I had recently re-flashed my ECU with the 36 and I have found that even thoug the stumble is gone is also taken a considerable amount of power, the car drives better however sometimes it has a on-off rough iddle, I currently have the 15% pulley, pilo intake and a borla race exhaust, any comments , am I the only one

I do not understand why such a noticeable power loss, an update should improve the car in every aspect, If they took, power in order to fix the stumble that is a half *** answer to the problem, the realitywe still have a problem. The other day a honda civic ex was more then keeping with me and I am not taking a big muffler wing soup up ricer I am frustatred with this crap

I had v.36 installed in my 2003 MCS and have not noticed much stumble nor any power loss I can detect.
No rough idle either. I have stock ignition and stock ECU. Most everything else is upgraded. (stock cylinder head and cam).

Please do check your PCV valve and hose- if the hose is very soft then the PCV valve and hose need to be replaced.
Happens all the time in the MCS. Could be the cause of your power loss.

Randy told me I had "The Elephant" a soft hose that expanded when I reved the motor and made this funny sound as it flexed back to it's normal size. Is this the tube you speak of?

I had the above mentioned hose replaced. I never heard the elephant type sound or experienced a looping type idle, until they replaced the hose. I suspect a vacum leak has been introduced into the previously tight system. (even with the softened hose) Not exactly very impressed with a fix that introduces the very problem it was supposed to prevent. My first service is fast approaching. I will bring this up to my SA.
I have noticed the stumble to be making a slight comeback, not as easy to launch as when first loaded. This may be caused by the leak however, so I will have to wait until that is fixed to be sure.

It's a little black hose along side your intercooler on the left hand side if you're facing your MINI under the bonnet. The hose will colapse a bit under throttle (have someone rev it in neutral while you look). If it collapses, you need a new PCV valve and maybe the hose as well.

As to what is does, it's more than I can really explain easily. It has to do with emisions from the crankcase. If the valve malfunctions (which they all do everntually), emissions can build up in your crankcase and even back up into your air filter.
