sick intake kit
I know that a lot of the guys from TWCompetition use these kits in their BMWs. Japanese made in carbon fiber with K&N filter.

as far as looks i like the OEM look (with the cover on it)....

but 12.5 hp? that just discredits that manufacturer as another one who likes to over-inflate figures.... call them up and ask them if their intake comes with some crack for you to smoke while you are reviewing your dyno sheets...

I think before you guys automatically start doubting and dissing, maybe you should do some research. Birds is a well known and respected tuner from the UK who also distribute the Hartge tuning kits. If you go to one of the other Mini sites, you will see nothing but praise for their operation.

as for the Gruppe, I would hope the claim of 12 HP is valid with a cost of $1000

Gruppe M's sales philosophy is "it's carbon fiber, therefore it must be good" and they sell a lot of intakes at stupid prices with this philosophy. All I can say is a fool and his money are soon parted.

I am a mamber of TWC and we do have a few of the Gruppe M cold air systems on the M3's . Those appear to work and are obviously very well made etc. But they do cost us $1800.If you saw what the rest ofthe cars look like the $1800 is totally in line. The one for the S that I see pictured here however looks prettier for the most part that the stock but i really don't see how there is any improvment over what has already been done. It uses the same air source as the stock from what I can tell, and is enclosed as is the stock one is all though in carbon fiber and with a better filter perhaps. If i draws air thru the rear bulkhead that might help a bit as it does for the Pipercorss Viper or the Alta . Based on appearance and thats just a guess I dont see how it can improve HP more than a few HP if at all. Very curious indeed. Randy

From what I heard from E46 Fanatics.... Gruppe M made one of the best intakes.
The HP gain from their intake is in 12 -15 hp range for 330i

when i started this topic i didn't realize the price of the kit . if it does provide the power it claims then that's great, but for that price i could get an Alta intake and pulley with money left over to go towards new rims. it is a beautiful intake though but not for a grand!!!!!
