Drivetrain DoS Water2Air Intercooler Opinions from Owners
DoS Water2Air Intercooler Opinions from Owners
I would greatly appreciate hearing the opinions and experience of those that have purchased the DoS W2A IC for their R56s. There does not appear to be much in the way of reviews or opinions here from those that actually have them on their cars.
Much appreciated folks.
Cheers.

Nothing huh . . . . ?????
I know some folks have this IC on their vehicle. Indeed, I have even sent out a couple PMs to those that have it asking for their opinions and whether they were pleased with the purchase. But nothing . . . .
Odd . . . .

I know that you're looking for opinions from current users/owners. If no one responds to you in a timely fashion, feel free to call or email me with any questions you may have.

Thank you sir, I appreciate that. I do have several questions that you are certainly best suited to answer. And since others on the forum might be interested in your replies, perhaps I could just post them here. If for some reason you would prefer not answer here, please shoot me a PM.
(1) How many units, generally speaking, are out there on R55s through R59s?
(2) What kind of IAT are folks seeing with your IC?
(3) Are cars running your IC still going to experience heat soak; if so, under what conditions.
(4) Any of your customers experiencing installation or operating issues, i.e., leaking fittings, etc. etc.
Thanks again.

Check out: http://defendersofspeed.com/store/pr...?id_product=21 . A lot of your questions are covered here.
1) w/o having Quickbooks right in front of me, I'd estimate that we sell 15 W2A-IC's per year. This means that we have 45 to 60 of these out in the wild at this point in time. They're not the cheapest IC on the market, so they're usually purchased by track rats & folks that live in hot climates.
2) IAT is dependent upon the ambient temperature and the amount of load that you're putting on the engine. Depending upon those conditions, you'll have IAT's that are 5 to 25 degrees above ambient.
3) Any intercooler will experience a level of heat soak when left to sit. It's just the nature of any metal or fluid (including air) that can conduct heat. The key factor you should be looking-at is recovery from heat soak. -- We dig deeper into this subject in the link that I posted above.
4) Our system does have a couple of threaded NPT joints, but we keep them to a minimum. We've had two instances where they've leaked. One was due to installation error and another was due to poor machining. We've since remedied the machining issue and pre-assemble all threaded NPT parts before the kits leave the shop.
Drop me a PM or an email if you have any more questions. I'll get back to you next week.
Best,
-Clint
