Drivetrain Another One Ball exhaust with cut out
Another One Ball exhaust with cut out
Hello guys..
Now with my cravenspeed 15%, k&n in the original airbox (like daveF) i need an exhaust, yes.. it will be better if ill get one with brand.. but meanwhile i will be saving money for that.. im thinking of doin the mod of One Ball but with cut out (for those moments when i will want more noise and power), for that reason i have a a question, in which part of the exhaust do i have to put the cut out... it will be a manual cut out.. and another question, i had that mod in my ex GTI MK5 2.0tfsi and it works perfect! but i dont know if in the little engine of the mini cooper (R52 S) will work fine.. do ill loose torque? or it will be better at high's rpm's.?
Cheers and thanks!

The cutout can be put almost anywhere. Your going to want to keep it a bit downstream to keep ensure your not tampering with any sort of scvanging and cylinder temp properties. but with the headers as long as they are on the MINI's you should be fine.
I as someone who has been there I would advise against it though. only becuase the route your are going to have to go to pull this off your going to end up shooting your self in the foot. If you buy a cutout you have two options mech, and automated. Mech means your going to have to get under your car to remove the cutout. Something that nomatter what you tell yourself your going todo about twice and never do it again, its just a PITB. If you do it right and go automated, you can get one that wont fall apart for about 300 dollars. that Coupled with paying the 50 to 100 dollars for the one ball puts you more then 3/4 of the way to buying an properly designed performance 304SS exhaust that will never fail, and will generate even better performance and fuel mileage.
Keep in mind I am just trying to help. I may not know certain aspects of what your trying to do so if I missing something let me know. Either way happy motoring
