Hey all,

Just received my rspeed exhaust for my cooper, and it didn't ship with instructions for some reason. Is there something I should know before installing? Anything special with it?

edit: After I put it on, it rattles at lower RPM's and at idle. Hm... any adjustment tips?

Thanks for any suggestions.

-Miles

My instructions came separately by email. I'll forward them to you if you like.

Should be pretty easy... one suggestion, get it in and on the hangers, but leave all the bolts/clamps finger tight. Then use a floor jack to raise the middle to the proper height, tweak everything till its square, then start at the front and work your way back tightening things up. Stop and check everything after each joint is tightened. Best way I have found to get it in square and even.

Thanks guys... I got it in, and it's awesome. The only thing I can say is that it kinda rattles at low RPM's. It sounds like it's hitting the housing under there. I think it just needs some tweaking...

It shouldn't rattle....Mined seemed like it was rattling when I would bog the engine in first gear or I was having the stumble probelm. Had the V.36 software upgrade and it cured my problem.

Hm... well, it rattles a little bit at idle, and a little bit at certain lower RPM's. I have the v36 software, so that's not the issue. I think it's just the fit..

Slangager, did you have it installed or did you do it yourself?

I did it myself......To be honest, twice(I was chicken to take my car to the dealer with the exhaust installed). After the service I re-installed and have not had any rattling since. The exhaust seems to have plenty of clearance everywhere I looked so my suggestion would be to get down underneath the car and see if you can figure out where it is coming from....Should be a fairly simple diagnosis if you have a partner.

Just got an email from Peter over at RSpeed. It was very descriptive and helpful. Great shop to deal with, I love my exhaust!
