Recently changed the clutch and thrust bearing on my 03 Cooper non S, it's working great now except for slight rattle when the clutch is released, I was very careful when when putting it back together and followed a YouTube vid by Minimod and also followed the instructions of the BMW TiS manual. Any ideas on what that could be? The reason why I ask is I have the car booked in with Mini for oil change. Any input with be very great full.

Is it a rattle or is it chattering? If the clutch was not broken in or is hot, it can chatter a bit. Chattering is possible too if you put a heavy-duty clutch in such as one with race style construction - a six-puck.

It was a Sachs clutch. So how long does it take to brake in a new clutch, I've been drinking it carefull.

Break in is about 500 miles of easy driving

Could be the throw out bearing or maybe a noisy clutch.

I assume you bought a new pressure plate, did you do anything with the flywheel?

I installed a new pressure plate, clutch, bearing and guide rod. The flywheel was in really good condition. I did figure that it would need to be run in, just wasn't sure for how long. Does sound less noisy the more I drive it.
