I was wondering....

COuld the dealer tell if your car was tuned, if lets say the rev limiter wasnt touched, without actually driving it?
I just want to get a basic tune, $2600 for the JCW stage 1, just seems too much for so little.
a tune a lone would make better numbers and cost a third of that.
everyones 2 cent are welcome.....

Dealer no,Mini yes.

Should be ok running a aftermarket stage 1.

Always make sure the car is at normal operating temp before boosting or you may end up buying pistons.

Even the dealer can tell if they choose to look... AFAIK, there is a counter in the ECU that records the # of times the ECU has been flashed. If they wanted too, all they have to do is look up how many times that car has been updated by Mini and see the difference.
