anyone have pictures of the shaft seals they are using?

Could be as simple as swapping it out for some double spring loaded viton lip shaft seals or something.

Is it leaking into the rotor pack or out on the pulley side? or is it leaking through where the case splits?

The leak is into the rotor pack, I've got the updated unit also, but still not back up and running yet from my motor rebuild, so I don't have any insight as to if this unit is any better or not.

I know that after the problem was discovered and before Sprintex started replacing units with updated seals I was looking into a couple of different options, including, a dipstick, or a sight glass. I'll see if I have an issue and see if I can come up with something once I'm running again, at this point it looks like late May or early June, I've got the Head off to clean it and get ready to sell and the motor comes out next weekend.

Sprintex USA recommended running tribodyne oil in mine from Jon bond performance and vented fill screw from Mynes tuning

My Sprintex experience.

I have had 2 of the original units fail and replaced by Sprintex over the last 2 years. Both units had gear oil leak into the rotors then failure. The new unit I am running now has the Mynes vented filler screw and it is doing well so far but I less than 1500 miles on it. I am worried this unit will fail as well.

2005 MCS sprintex 60mm pulley. 550 injectors GP IC, Bytronik FA and Mynes tune. Alta exhaust, Mynes V2 header. DT/BPV. Craven CAI. ARP Head studs and tons of handling Mods.

It was tight, slim fans solved that. Replaced eleptical inlet plate with a round inlet an made a silicone straight shot inlet. My jimmy rigged showed a 40-50% increase flow over stock inlet. And the bump in power was obvious now the poor thing can breathe

I've been running my Sprintex for over two years now with the stock 69mm pulley I've had very little issues with my unit I had some oil leakage early on but I switched to the vented fill screw and tribodyne supercharge oil and it seems to have cleared up. I am thinking about getting a 2% crank pulley has anyone done it will it work.

Personally I wouldn't, besides the whole "you're making everything else speed up" debate, (which I never really thought was that valid) you will be speeding up the SC, and with the Sprintex tuning being different than factory, it may require a new tune. (You wouldn't know for sure without trying it, our possibly doing the calculations on the actual rotation speed differential)
If you were just looking for more boost, I'd simply change the SC pulley and leave the crank pulley stock.

I thought about getting a new pulley for the SC but I cant find anyone that sells them. I had the choice of pulley when I ordered my SC and I chose the stock 69mm but now it seems difficult to find just a pulley one place told me he could get it for me but only a 64 I asked how much it would be he said he didn't know he'd have to check and then I never heard back and that was back last summer.

The reason I'm thinking about the 2% crank pulley is because my stock crank pulley is shot and they seem to be available. for the tuning aspect I'm looking to get the vipec ecu hopefully this year.

i just would hope that this unit is effective in the end, all the troubles people had in the beginning. twin screws are a much better design over roots.

as for the pulley, any decent machine shop could make one, so long as you know what the bore is, press fit taper, bolted straight bore.....

Mynes can get you the smaller pulleys, from Germany. get Mynes to do the tune, it's worth it. Having said that, The 69 with the stock crank pulley is pretty much enough for me, it's hot in Fresno "). One thing i did get, is the Mynes Spintex Pulley tensioner which made a huge performance difference. Beautiful piece of kit!! stainless steel CNC perfection!!

I haven't put my breather nut on yet. 15k on the Sprintex with one oil change.

Yeah!! The belt stays tight at high rpm, when i first drove the car, after i put the Mynes tensioner on, the difference was night and day, the car got "twitchy" like a thoroughbred racehorse and super sensitive to my right foot!! of course now, i'm used to it.... the original aluminum tensioner that came with the Sprintex, wasn't very good at high rpm, just that piece of junk, tiny shock, to keep the belt tight. i'm thinking, it's why i threw the belt in the first place.

I agree, the Mynes tensioner is a worthwhile upgrade if you plan on doing anything with a Sprintex that puts it beyond stock parameters, even a bump in rev limit.

I read the above post has anyone actually ran a sprintex and 2% crank pulley? I understand the tuning and belt size but I have one and am contemplating a sprintex.

I haven't, but honestly the tuning and belt sizing should really be the only issues. (As long as you're not planning in going any smaller than the 64mm pulley)
Tuning should also be fairly straight forward as long as your not planning on running the stock tune or the canned Sprintex tune.
Belt sizing will probably be your biggest obstacle.

Thanks guys, yeah tuning I'm planning on a custom tune anyway (not a big fan of canned tunes) and belts shouldn't be too hard to find.

Cockymonstar- are you going to use the factory tensioner?

Is the only place to get the Mynes tensioner at tinkerfreaks? I feel like $290 is pretty steep for just a tensioner...

Hi all, future Sprintex owner. My M45 just gave out at 162,000 miles, with a 15% on for it's whole life, so it had a good run. Looking forward to the power.
If anyone is selling theirs, I'm open to used as well!

WooHoo! Finally I have gotten rid of that pesky P1498 Code. (check Mynes for code explanation)
Long story short, the double o-rings on the intake pipe into the Sprintex had a vacuum leak for almost a year. The leak got so bad I had cold start issues arise. I had to start the car twice. Pressurized the intake and bingo! I installed 2ea 3.75 ID 1/4 silicon o-ring and that was the end of that.

Finally no codes!

Does anybody have a spare tensioner tool for the gen 1? I've now bought the r50 tool (accident) and the r53 tool which doesn't work on the sprintex tensioner. Bout $80 on the wrong bloody tools and no way to return them!

I don't have a spare, but I could give you the measurements, it's just bar stock and some bolts.

ALSO LOOKING INTO PURCHASING SPRINTEX

At 128k, I'm getting nervous about the current life of my stock Eaton.

Any specific dealers? Are there any possibilities of getting an older version w/o fixed oil seals, etc?
