G-Force Chip

Has anyone installed this chip? I saw it on internet, but can not find a thread on it here. I sounds great for the price, and 50 HP.. but has it been tested and verified by any members here?

+1, it's basically a box with a surplus computer chip in it, soldered to the plug by one or two pins, 100% snake oil, will do absolutely nothing for your car.

Sure it will do something. Just look at the review. Heck, that would give an r56 the specs of an r53 lol (flamesuit on)

Ordering Process: 1/5

Shipping Speed: 1/5

Customer Service: 1/5

Return Policy: 1/5

Average HP and Torque Gain: 1/5 (For each vehicle tested we noticed a loss of 8-15 HP)

Average MPG Gain: 1/5 (We notice huge losses in MPG. These varied from 3-10 MPG.)

Cost of product: $69.00
NOTE: We did notice an engine knock after using this chip. We do not recommend this chip.

G Force Chip installation gone wrong

I bought a G-Force performance Chip for a 2008 Mini S. Had my local guys install it, what a mess. The check engine light came on immediately, apparently they had the lead to the wrong wire (Orange), contacted G-Force, they said swich orange to yellow. After switching to yellow wire, light remained on. Took it to Mini dealer, they switched out some sensors and pronounced that the wire had "tapped into the DME had shorted the DME", needs a new DME for $2221! G-Force says it's impossible for a chip to short out an ECU (is that the same as a DME??) no matter how it's installed, "there are safeguards". Check engine light still on, car runs fine except audio chime sounds off and on occaisionaly. Help me someone! Anyone out there have a similar experience, if so, how was it resolved?? Thanks for reading.

You know the old saying....if its to good to be true....it NEVER IS!

I really can't believe a MINI dealer tried to help hook it up....this is one of the oldest chip scams still around....and what a REAL CHIPTUNING COMPANY has to fight against.....why don't you go look at a real RaceChip at MINI Dynamics. Look at the main board of the RaceChip - then open up your paperweight and see how it compares! I hate to say it, you are screwed.

+1. I am stunned a dealer would touch this (I hope the owner was aware, and the dealer made the owner aware, that this would void his/her warranty). But it amazes me people will mess around with the ECU without doing some R&R on it too; especially if you're looking for 50+ HP gains. There really aren't any cutting corners for making power reliably. A tune may be more expensive, but it's SO much safer, and actually better for your car.

Looks like by "local guys" it wasn't the dealer, from his other thread, so at least the dealer is off the hook. Not so the purchaser...

Maybe there will be some good out of this--anyone reading this will hopefully do their homework before embarking on the slippery slope of mods for power. For giggles I searched it, my gosh, one quick search on Yahoo is all you need to avoid this thing.

I love their website--they have a chip for every car you can imagine. Yeah, I'm pretty sure this outfit had the time to painstakingly go over all those ECU's to make sure this would work. Most legitimate tuners do a few makes (and do them well), there is no way this guy has done all the work for this thing to work with all those different type of engines when it takes considerable time for any company to get one car right. One of the reasons why tuning/ecu mods are so expensive, you're paying for R&D. The fact that this is so cheep tells me that there has been none.

If you could get 50HP this easily it would have been done a long time ago. People have been at this a while....
