Supercharging the Cooper W10

So my MCS got oil starved and threw a rod bearing Looking at possible replacement motors I got to thinking...is it possible to get a regular Cooper engine and supercharge it? I know the compression ratio is 10.6:1 and the crank is cast so reliability of the setup might be questionable. I have seen a few turbo R50s running 15psi and the R53 supercharger would run less than that. So many variables...would my W11 flywheel bolt to the W10?...does the Getrag 6MT even bolt to the W10?...would this even be worth it? Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a used S motor?

Just get a new/used/rebuilt r53 motor unless you want your car to be a garage queen/project car....a million unexpected hurdles and $$ to spend on....any problem can be fixed with time, money and experance...but you want a car.the engineering has already been done...when they modified the r50 to the r53...judging from the need to change lots of parts to install a r53 6 speed into a r50...you would never save $$, and still could have an big bang at any moment....
Just cause it was done does not make it wise/relilable..

+1 to sticking with an R53 block. The internals are all forged, and this is a must for any boostfed engine (especially with the PSI numbers we like to push in them).

Thanks for the info, guess its gonna be a used R53 motor. But on the bright side, looks like the best time for cams and clutch/flywheel

Def want to start with the W11 block. If you need I have 4 low mileage used engines that are complete.

Can you Turbo a W10 engine? Either remote / rear mount or manifold mount?

Yes sorry about that, I have been watching a bunch of R53 vs R56 videos. I actually have an R53, sorry for the confusion! Definitely want to mod a 2005 R53
