Bad turbo today

I bought this 07 MCS about 3 months ago with a bad motor (#3 piston) from a woman in her 40's. I got a good deal on it $8500.00 and then I call BMW and it was under warranty. Today my turbo went bad. So I was going to finish the outside first but I guess it has changed now. I ordered the Alta turbo and few other goodies. Will be building another motor in a few months...

Few items Ive done to my stock Mini
JCW kit
Blackout
Koni V2 (came in today)
HRE 595R (should be here end of next week)
Alta turbo and others

I'll be posting some pics of the dyno and build soon!!!!!

Sounds great!

I don't know what a Knoi V2 or an HR E595R are though.

Looking forward to the pictures!

I'm not rebuilding my bottom end now. BMW just did it, but I'll be getting one from Mike in the next few months.
But why did you say that????? I'm not going to be running crazy boost levels like 28lbs...

I figured if you're getting the Alta billet turbo you'd be boosting for high heaven in a quest for unholy R56 power. 22psi+

You do realize you don't have to take the whole front end off to R&R the turbo right?

Guess its too late now, but just throwin' that out there lol

Under warranty! Awesome! I remember reading a post somewhere about a guy buying a CBR600 for a few hundred bucks because the owner couldn't get it to start for the life of him. Ended up being something like adjusting a screw or a throttle cable somewhere and it ran like brand new.

i know, but let's just say they didn't do good job at the dealer and I had to double check all the bolts and etc.
I was also only to port my head, but changed my idea. I'll wait till I build my block with Mike and then have him do my head.

Maybe the root cause of the failure should be found before just getting it running to oem block specs or even building the motor.. If something is causing detonation or excessive heat or what be the case, especially with atlas billet turbo, it won't matter what you build the motor with it'll end up blowing up again

There is nothing wrong with the stock block, you obviously have not done any research or put any thought into why you lost piston No 3 in the first place!

And as Sooper Cuper Eric says, until you know the answer, no amount of re-builds or different components will eradicate your problem!

Can you please post good quality pictures of the internal damage to your engine and components, and also give us a detailed spec list of all your engine mods, and the tune your running.

I will do my best to help identify your problem and guide you to what you really should be doing.

Turbo went bad due to lack of oil, I thought it was because the line had sludge and replace it. I took the oil pan out and I can see pieces of the piston. My lifters are also making noise. I can see the engine went bad due to sludge. I'll post some good pics went I take it apart.
Thanks for you help guys!!!!!!!!!

I had the same thing happen 2 weeks ago. They replaced the oil line and the turbo.... then they keep the same oil in the engine. I'm still having problems with my car but if it does not throw a CEL mini doesn't care!
