It essentially steam cleans the valves and washes them as the mixture passes over them. It is not something that will clean it instantly, but over time I think it is a very effective solution to keeping our valves clean.

A catch can is still a good fix for the original problem of carbon buildup....cleaning the valves is just a side benefit of water/meth injection.

No point in spending $1k or however much those W2A i/c's are, if you are going to run meth. Buy a cheaper FMIC, or keep the stock ic. Depending on how and where you are injecting...an intercooler becomes almost unnecessary. Water/meth injection is chemical intercooling, and is more effective at heat dissipation than any IC out there.

I was interested in that also. I have a Helix FMIC in the box, not yet installed. It was on my "to do" list for this weekend but Sunny is in the shop with a brake problem. Waiting for a new master cylinder. I was thinking maybe selling the FMIC and installing the water/meth kit.

When is somebody going to ask if this will affect your warranty?

Thanks for the write-up. I am interested to hear your impressions. My car is used as a daily driver but this is something that is tempting due to it's multiple benefits as opposed to just a singular benefit. Please keep us posted as you learn more and make adjustments!

I was contemplating a fmic, but may jump on this first... Helix has the gb ending soon... If we jump on this together we should get together and complete both installs at the same time

Thummper MCS,

How long do you think it took you to install your Aquamist and where do you think this falls on the DIY scale of difficulty?

Umm...my answer won't be a good gauge....but

Took me about 3 days....on and off. I have never done anything that has involved running line/wire from one end of the car to the other or from interior to exterior, so I was a little intimidated. It just took a lot of staring at the car and figuring out how I wanted to attack each step. There is nothing actually difficult about the install....tapping the wires is the easiest part. The hardest part for me was just figuring out how I wanted to run everything through the car and where. There was also no R56 manual so I kinda had to just figure things out as I went along, and made many many calls to Jeff.

Now that I've done it, I think I could do one in a couple hrs. And now that I've done it I'd be more than happy to answer questions for anybody while they are doing an install.

Just for grins I asked a local shop that does a lot of Aquamist installs on Euro cars how much they charge for install. They say they charge 8-10 hrs of labor....that's insane. I recommend doing it yourself, so you know exactly how everything was done and that it was done correctly. It's also much easier with a friend helping you, especially when running the line under the car.

I moved up a jet size today...to a .7mm. The car seems to like it even better I can't wait to up the meth concentration...

I think I'll say this is one of the best mods you can do. And for anyone running a bigger than stock turbo...it is absolutely essential.

If your getting retuned... just up to a 1.0mm or even a dual set up!

Nice work on the install!

Well if you are going to void the warranty might as well be for something that actually helps the longevity of the engine. Depending how soon the monies need to be ready I'm game for the group buy.

Guess the Akrapovic exhaust will have to wait a few more months.

Brilliant! Plus one can just skip the larger intercooler and use that money for a tune. I wish I had done it this way myself, but I have no regrets.

It's been stated that the WMI system makes a larger intercooler redundant. Is that true for all stages of tuning? Does a larger intercooler have any additional benefits when the boost is turned up or a larger turbo is used?

I've seen cars get away with running stock or no I/C, but it can still be a risk. TBH I have always had the best results from running both math and larger I/C. The larger front mount will still be cooling intake charge when the meth is not spraying. It also uses a free cooling resource that never runs out.

Congrats on the install. This will be one of my first upgrades after the engine is back together.

Do you think the car is quicker with the Aquamist?

I'd agree here with Mike...

Meth is only cooling when it's spraying, granted it is instantaneously cooling the second it sprays, it still doesn't hurt to have a good front mount like the Helix or Forge.

If you decide to spray pre-turbo also...then I'd really consider not running an IC. The intercooler essentially becomes a heat source at that point...

I might play with pre turbo spraying down the road...but for now I'm only doing post IC.

Heck yes...it's an animal. Need to get to the dyno though...

And even better it just feels "happier" lol, a cooler motor is a happy one

900+S/H, but Jeff is starting a GB on the RMW forum which will bring it down. I don't want to announce the price of the GB until he does incase he didn't want me to tell others. Its decent, and will qualify if 10 people join. I know we definitely have like 6 or so already.

Post on there and ask about it...

I don't know if Jeff gets on NAM much anymore.

Or even better...you can just give him a jingle and tell him to set it up!

Just call me a meth addict.....I love this kit. Puts a smile on my face everytime I drive the car. It's amazing how flawless it works with the car too, almost like it came as part of the car. I've been giving plenty of friends rides in the car...and everyone is blown away by how strong its running.

And for those that are curious...(I myself am very curious....), I think I will pull the intake manifold in a month or so and take a peek at what it is doing for the whole carbon issue on the the valves.

guys, I'm confused by a few items;

1) the pricing... Why $900. It Looks like the kit sells for $700. Is a tank not included? And... if that's the only thing not included, couldn't you get a cheap tank? It looks like he sells some as low as $29.99.

2) Why does the tank need to be in the trunk? Could a different location work?
