My supercharged '96 Miata shrieked like a banshee, especially when I put a smaller pulley on it. I used to downshift in tunnels and run it to redline just to hear it scream.

 

Awfully loud in the cabin and those sure are some tight streets ! This is what a M-45 sounds like on a mini with a modified intake system

Worst sounding Eaton M45 ever....

 

Very visceral, to a point. But, it would get old after 5 or 10 minutes. Not on a daily driver.

 

The M45 on the MINI is naturally very loud. What muffles the noise is a sound reducing opening in the floor body of the M45, the thick aluminum Intercooler horns and the the biggest noise muffler the IC.
I believe the loud MINI in the y-tube is a M7 AGS? To bad they are not around anymore! It took the place of the primary plastic intake manifold and really resonated the air intake charge from the TB throttle Body.

 

Yes that is a AGS. Still have it on the car . You are correct on the change of intake pipe as well.
