Running OPEN stage 1 JCW Intake

Hi
I have a 2007MCS with the stage 1 JCW upgrade. I love the sound of the open aftermarket intakes, i no i have the best intake already for power but it is quite quiet. I was wondering if I could take the lid off the stock airbox and just run the car like that for some nice sounds? It looks like I could just take the top cover off and just run with the pod exposed.
Has anyone done this or know if it is possible to do with out the filter falling out or throwing any codes or problems?
Thanks.

You couldn't possibly do that simply because the air filter fits to the upper cover and not the lower part of the airbox. And the intake hose is connected to the top cover as well.
So it's a big NO.

On the other hand, if performance is what you are after, just slide in your stage 1 air box an ITG foam filter (cylindrical BH239) which fits just fine, but do not expect much noise from that configuration.

If you want some added noise then you can pick up a blow off adapter from Forge Motorsports http://www.forgemotorsport.com/conte...roduct=FMDVMCS.

It's designed with power in mind, but it's arguable whether it helps or or not. However it does make a pretty audible sound when the DV bumps boost so it may help you in that regard.

Thanks guys. i was going to get the forge adapter a while ago but then someone said they lost power and others have said they got CELs so i wasn't sure. i already have a mini mania pod in the box to help power to. mabye i will just try the forge valve since its pretty cheap.

If your looking for intake noise like the sucking sound you need to look at intakes, If your looking for the BOV venting sound then you need to shop BOV's. You can still shop either with gaining power in mind, but spend your money wisely.

Is there any way to get the BOV/DV noise with the JCW stage 1 intake? From all that I'm reading the stage 1 intake is just as good as the DoS performance wise.

that was what i was asking but seems like all you can do is get the forge adaptor which some say works and others say gives CELs

I have that intake as well. It is a straight shot from the hood scoop to the side of the upper intake box. With a little bing and a little bang a person could carve open the side of the box into a oval shaped hole and tie the hood scoop to it. cool air and more sound ! (you first)
