are the stock injectors top or side feed and are they high impedence or low impedence. i keep seeing people only use the jcw injectors. its pretty common in other car circles to use factory injectors from other cars as replacements esp when modifing. its really easy to find cheap stock injectors in the desidered cc rating rather then shelling out 400 for jcw injectors.

 

Ive seen much discussion on this. the general consencus is that the mini has a special spray sprattern, and the aftermarket mini-specific, or stock injectors are the only ones that are going to work well. Theres a reason that they have high prices. tbh, i'd rather run my stock 340cc injectors than trying to jury-rig something from a different car. But thats just my opinion, i could be wrong.

 

"special spray pattern" ugh are you serious? i've never heard that in my 12+ years modifying cars. with the exception of maybe needing new wiring clips and a injector seat bowl i cant imagine how unique the mini injector is.

 

thats what i heard... obviously this is my first car, but from what i understand, the mini is a very different beast from many other cars out there. besides, hy skimp out on fuel injectors? it is after all your final source of fuel delivery, and some will argue the most important piece of the fuel delivery system, so why would you skimp on it? you're better off with the stock injectors if you can't afford injectors. btw, you can't run any aftermarket injectors besides the jcw injectors without a tune. most people buy 550cc injectors before getting tuned, to insure a good delivery of fuel. a tune typically costs about 350, so if you go bigger than jcw, then you're looking at 750 total, about. from what i hear though, it's well worth it.

 

its this kind of mentality that never opens the door to new areas of developement and progress in a community.

 

I'm failing to see the issue. We have injectors currently available to us that can suit any of our needs. Whether the car is stock, slightly modded, or making over twice the HP of a stock engine, there is an injector available that can suit. There really aren't any 'new' breakthroughs to be had with injectors for our cars, nor is there a need for them. You just have to pay to play.

 

Can someone just answer the question then high or low impedence?

 

Most opt for the JCW injectors since they're doing modest upgrades and these injectors are plug & play. Generally they run about $200 or so/set used.

Some have used injectors from other applications, but they typically require a lot of fiddling to get them to fit due to fuel rail clearance...though you sound pretty capable in this realm. Sorry I can't help with specifics here. A search of the forum will get you up to speed on what others have tried. The spray pattern issue mentioned previously is generally associated with injectors modified to provide greater flow.
