Drivetrain ACT Clutch/PP/Flywheel Question
ACT Clutch/PP/Flywheel Question
If you've got / installed an ACT clutch kit, I have a question:
"Elphie" needs a clutch, and from everything I've read here I've put an ACT kit at the top of the wish list. What I haven't read anywhere is why exactly they (ACT) say you must use their flywheel. Is it because of balancing, or bolt pattern of the P/P, or is it simply because it's a sprung disc designed to be used w/ a single-mass flywheel (and they want to direct you to buying theirs)?
Tech specs and photos of theirs and similar don't show anything special or out-of-the-ordinary - but not relying on that. And, I already have a L/W flywheel (Fidenza/MiniMania), so if it's just the single- vs. dual-mass, I have that covered. So if you have experience w/ the ACT, please chime in...
In the interest of brevity, please know that I've read virtually every post on every thread that came up under "1st Gen" w/ the key word "clutch", so I've read plenty of info and opinions already other brands, just trying to (in advance) keep this little thread on track ... As Joe Friday said, "Just the facts, man." Thanks!
