maybe a different exhaust question

i am thinking about going the custom magnaflow route but i have a question and hope someone here might be able to help. i was going to go ahead and weld this exhaust up myself. i know that in the exhaust tubing under the car there are to bends. are these bends necessary? it looks like as long as i can clear that little bracket underneath the car that i can rung straight tubing from the catback to my muffler. is this correct or am i missing something?

thanks

I would say do it, less bends = better flow. Will you be emissions legal? Don't know how they check things in Cali. Good luck.

yes emissions should be fine. i will be keeping the CAT. i will basically just replace some tubing and put a magnaflow on it. i was thnking the same thing you were, straight pipe = better flow. but for some reason every exhaust i see has the bends. i will try to get under there again this weekend and take a better look. i guess if its possible i will just use straight pipe.

Agreed... less bends better flow.

It's my understanding that running one cat would be sufficient to pass emissions. I'll find out in a few more years

I'm guessing you don't have the second cat? Did it throw a code when it was removed? Also even if it passed emissions doesn't it have to pass a visible inspection
