First thing you should do is figure out why it blew the head gasket...

Warped head?

over-boost?

cracked head or block around water jacket?

etc...

guys, people are nto made of money, but seriously, find out what caused it to blow, fix that, then use ARP studs and bolts, oem gasket, and if your brave enough, polish the intake and exhaust ports on your head with a dremmel (wont do a whole lot, but it will help)

and if you do have an extra 1500-2000 laying around id say thumper head or call Way from way motor works if you want reliable power that wont throw codes.

I'm investigating a parts list for a head gasket job soon, too. hopefully with a new
performance head and cam as well.
I found this thread and am trying to revive it and come to a consensus on
what is actually needed.

Just back from the shop with a fixed MINI.
Mine turned out to be a leaky thermostat housing and gasket (again!). Couldn't see it leaking at the housing until parts were taken
off for a better view. I guess it was running down and around the top edge of the block on a lip to make it look to me like it was
coming from the cylinder head gasket.

So no new performance head and cam for me at the present. I'm very relieved yet a little disappointed.
