Nitrous

Hello all,

i have been a lurker for a while, and also a searcher. i have an 05 MCS with a 15% , intake, and a cat back. i am about 50% through the install on the nitrous kit, i am not in a hurry as it is not my daily. i cant seem to find much info on mini's with some sauce on them....... i am looking for some insight on nozzle position and some pics would be great to! another thing on my mind is does anyone know any specs on the stock fuel pump? any help would be great!!

got it all finished up!

its a wet kit and i started it out on 50 shot........gonna watch everything for a few bottles and then try out a 75 shot. and yes i know to watch the afr, fuel pressure and i will also be monitoring the timing as well

Wet is a bit more difficult than dry. Glad to see it is a small shot. Definitely a good idea to test out the 50 shot before moving up.

Wet kit def. safer, whose did you use? I am thinking about this for a winter project, as of next spring my car will no longer be my daily driver. Please post up after you use the 75 for a while, I was thinking more of it than 50. (75 would put me in the 310-315whp range.)

50 shot before the SC worth 100hp?

Have you tried this yet? In my experience, a 50 shot before the supercharger is worth about double that due to the nitrous being compressed with the intake air charge. Nitrous Express confirmed that, so it should be a HUGE gain. I'm currently using nitrous for an IC spraybar, but haven't had the ***** to spray the motor. Oh and i totally agree the wet kit is the way to go. I'm interested to see your results.

I was worried about that as well, but Nitrous Express said it was not an issue (not saying that it doesn't sound a little scary). Where are you putting the nozzle then? Direct port? And where are you putting the bottle? I found that a 2.5 lb bottle fits perfect in the glove box... A little small, but then again it's only a 50 shot.

Bigger the bottle the better, you'll get more consistent results throughout the range of bottle emtpying. The consistency of the spray depends on the bottle pressure and its derived from the NO evaporization caused by the heat of the bottle. Bottle heaters should probably be used. Also the qualtity of the fill/refill will determine your consistency.

they can say that all day but there is no way i will put fuel through the blower, then it travels up around a bend then to the i/c around another bend then to the manifold then into the head.............thats way to far for me i have a single fogger after the i/c on the flat part of the horn right befrore it meets the manifold. i run a 10lb bottle right behind the passenger seat. a 2.5lb bottle would need a fill after like two runs......definately too small

still havent made it to the dyno, but i can tell you this......
i have had a few nitrous setups in the past on larger hits, and this little 50hp shot hits HARD! i dont catch traction until around 70mph from a second gear hit and thats on and off the button to try to keep it from spinning. I had a scanguage 2 hooked up on it and the car seemed to like it, it wasnt pulling much timing out at all. Pulled the plugs and they look the same as the day i put them in. So if your buddy has a head, cam, header and a tune..........go get some spray and show him whos boss! Car makes a ton of tq (for a mini) on the bottle.

i have pics but are to big for the site to accept, dont know how to shrink em

I have 340 JCW fuel injectors (could go to 440cc's) wouldn't a small shot, dry system be OK? Wouldn't the bigger injectors keep up?

Just wondering what's the difference between wet/dry nitrous? What make it wet/dry, Does one use the nitrous gas and other use liquid?

Dry injects only nitrous into the engine, problem there is you can only do small shots unless tuned. Spraying nitrous only can make things run a little lean and cause damage. Were as a wet system injects nitrous and fuel; to keep the air-to-fuel were it should be.

On a side note...Im sure its possible but no sure how to go along with it. What if you used a kinda semi direct port system? Injecting extra fuel as you would with a direct port kit, but spraying the nos before the supercharger?

Anyone done thius or is it even possible?

Why?.... the best place to spray is after the IC. That way you get the most cooling effect of the N2O/fuel. Direct port is great if you are spraying masses of N2O as you want to keep it a liquid until its inside the cylinders (otherwise it takes up space and there isn't enough air).

Oh and to get the hardest hit you want a grater number of smaller jets. This gives you a finer and better mixed mixture of fuel/air/N2O. This increase the cooling effect AND the better distribution means you get a better burn in the cylinders.

Chris.

So it wouldnt be worth it to spray 100 shot direct port on a lightly modded mcs?

How does all this work when you have a Water/Meth setup? With the mods I have I think it might be a fun add on.
