oil change

should i stick with the 12-13k factory change or should i change at 6k and then take it to the factory maintenance oil change at 12-13k?

then you seriously didn't look. not trying to bust on you but someone starts a new thread on this exact subject almost every week and it's always the exact same arguments for and against.

You may not find the thread in the cooper s modification forum. check the more general forums and you'll see them.

edit: I just did a search for "oil change" only in thread titles and came up with 49 threads for this year alone.

but you can skip all those and just do what you feel good doing. You don't trust the 15k oil changes? Then do it earlier.

I change every 5K. Amzoil. My preference.
You change at 5K not because the oil breaks down, but because the antiwear additives get used up. Acids exceed the buffers, and byproducts build up. 15K changes will make sure your car won't last as long as you would like. I wish there was room for an acu-sump.

We recommend to ALL our customers to change it every 5k no matter what. Your car will last longer.
