Drivetrain RMW Updates
Here is my little story...
We all know that Jan can be hard to get a hold of. So one night a few weeks ago he calls me on my cell phone and leaves a message. I was busy and could not get back to him. He called me 2 more times. So I say to myself "WOW! what does this guy want from me?? That he keeps calling."
He was calling to tell me that he had finally unlocked alll/most of the limiters in the JCW tune. He is going to email me this updated tune called "high boost." Prior to this new tune I could maybe make 18psi of boost, once or twice 19. So I put it on my car and take it for a ride. Holy crap!!! This thing is wild. I can easily get to 23psi of boost in 6th gear. It was now crazy fast. I think this new tune is a bit too much for the car. You can spin the wheels in 3rd gear. The cold start hesitation is gone and the car pulls like no tomorrow in any gear, even 6th. I can't even begin to describe how awesome the car is now. I will need to get it on a dyno to see how much more power its making.
Thanks Jan. You have been great to work with and I appreciate your ongoing work trying to wring every drop of additional power out of the JCW power-plant.
I said this once in another post. He must like my mellow NY demeanor

You'll be amazed at what cars you'll keep up with or pull away from with all the torque...(disclaimer: on a track of course)
tune
I need a tune.
you need the old tool as the Accessport only works on the R56
Hey Jan, Are the actual tunes different between the Accessport and the Dimsport?
Also, I'm still not comfortable with the way the rpm's increase when I change gears. Is it possible to at least tone it down a bit? I'm just worried about clutch wear.

This is what I like to read....
Also, did you get the dimsport before Jan figured out how to disable the first gear limiter? I hope I have mine delimited, cos that's a big part of why I want the Dimsport!
Yeah i did get it before it was unlocked, I have one map with it de-limited but it runs less boost. I want the Closed system, not idealy the best situation for the turbo but the boost is still in the system when you shift.
The flutter is compressor surge. It is not gonna destroy your turbo. your turbo will not last as long as someone who recirculates their boost. We're talking about the same thing.
The flutter you hear is the air surging back through the turbo but the positive is that the boost stays in the system for the next gear.
It doesnt flutter the valve , it keeps it closed (it being the challenge tune)

Send onefish a pm, im sure he has a much better in depth description of pros vs cons since he drives it every day.
I was like that too, but it is honestly a waste of time, as long as it is running strong and right , I'm satisfied.
Jan contacted me last week about an engine I had for sale.
We talked and agreed on a price.
Jan handled all the issues regarding shipping it.
I was very impressed.
Very professional.
Will do do more busniess with RMW in the future.
