Drivetrain The Official ALTA AccessPORT Thread
#3576
Help! I just got a used AP and followed the instructions from Perin Performance.
1. Used the Accessport Manager software to update the Accessport to the latest firmware (AP-MIN-001 v1.6.7.1-7253).
2. Plugged in the AP to my 2009 MCS convertible.
3. Watched it detect my car as a "Mini H810B"
4. Put the key in the ignition and made sure the dashboard lit up...
5. Proceeded to select a Stage 1 map (ended up trying two of them, a 91 and a 92 TPS)
6. Watched it complete the Download process
7. And then every time it would error out after completing the download.
This is the error:
ECU Comms
Cannot communicate with vehicle. Please verify cable is plugged in securely, then turn ignition key "OFF" and then "ON" and try again.
Needless to say I tried this several times and made darn sure the cable was plugged in all the way and that the unit and cable were undisturbed during the process.

When the dashboard 'lit up', you mean that you hit the start key without putting in the clutch or hitting the brake, right? Turning the car 'on' except for the engine running is what you want. Daytime running lights on, radio on, HVAC on.
If this is what you had, then I can't help...........

Yes folks all of you are correct. Nubi mistake. I never realized the car wasn't actually on until you hit that damn start button without pushing in the clutch or brake. It is working as advertised.
On another note, the folks at Alta were really nice to me just now. I hit them up on their chat (via their website) and they immediately passed me over to a tech. Granted they said that they could help depending on my issue, but man they were fast. It took sixty seconds. I'm sure that doesn't always happen, but it shows they are doing their best to support their products (even if discontinued).
THANKS ALTA and thanks to the community.

So, started my MINI this afternoon, plugged accessport in, it booted up as usual. then the screen just went blank and hasnt come back on since. plugged into USB on my mac and no display ... my AP never really leaves my dashboard except for updates so very little to no physical damage at all. what now?

Give us a call and we can get the screen replaced through COBB, thanks!

Hey guys - does the tune have any effect on traction control? Ever since I moved to Stage 2, I feel my traction control is barely alive. The tires spin in the rain and the traction light never comes on. Would that have anything to do with the tune? I can't figure out what would be the issue. I drove in snow this morning and my tires slipped and spun and the traction light didn't come on at all.

Quick question. Updated my AP, never installed yet, and I was looking through the maps and noticed that in the details they all say "MCS Auto tranny with H910B ECU." I bought this AP used, and plan on using it on my 2012 JCW Coupe with a manual transmission.
I won't be installing this in my car until the Spring when it comes out of storage, but will these maps work on my car? If not where do I get the proper maps from?
Thanks!
