Stupid mistake!!!!!!!

I figured I'd give everyone a laugh at my own expense. I was replacing my engine mount bushings yesterday and made a really stupid mistake.

When I was working on the lower engine mount I thought I had to remove the large bushing and replace it with the powerflex bushing. After mangling the large factory bushing to remove it I realized I just had to insert the Powerflex into the old one. Now I have to buy a new lower engine mount.

I can't believe with all if the modifications I've done to my car that I would make such a stupid mistake. Oh well!

Anyone who has kids and been through a Christmas Day has been in your shoes as well. ( not reading the directions, it's a guy thing...... )

And I bet there are many who would have never even attempt such a task. So hats off to you.

Unfortunatly there were no instructions except for the forums here. You're right though, I just didn't read close or far enough here.

I installed the gearbox bushing this morning without any problems. Hopefully I will have my new lower mount today to complete the job. BTW this all started with my upper hydraulic mount failing. I replaced that without any problems as well.

I'm curious to see what the inside of that hydraulic mount looks like. I'm going to cut it in half this weekend and post pictures of the dissection here.

Sorry to hear that man.

How difficult was it to install the tranny bushing? and which ones did you go with?

It's all fixed now with a new lower mount and the Powerflex bushings installed correctly. It's actually a 10 minute job with one tool, a 16mm wrench.

As far as the tranny bushing goes, it's not bad. The hardest part is just getting everything out if your way. You have to remove the airbox, disconnect ECU and move it out of the way ect.. I installed the tranny bushing in about 30 minutes.

Everyone is right about the vibration, there's a lot. I like it though, the car feels extremely tight all around.
