Why you NEED the pulley tool

Proof here
in the video you can see the pulley starting to bend way earlier than we did. but since this is not a part that is considered serviceable by mini the special tool is required. otherwise you'll end up like me with no way to fit a tool on and no way to get the pulley off other than maybe cutting it.

Ouch....

The good news is that you may have enough room between the bent area to get a puller on there.

The bad news is that the pulley is now weakened and the puller may also fail.

That being said, you are not in a position that you can't get it all sorted.

i'm going to just cut it off, I dont want to pound on the pulley to make the tool fit and further weaken it and maybe damage the SC.

You'd be better off removing the tensioner bracket going forward. I know people are always trying to speed up the removal by not removing it, but it's worth it to evaluate the bearing on the pulley. Here are some notes on cutting the pulley:

ok, I cut it off, got the new pulley on and now the belt is slipping, from my searches it says that this could be from two things, too large of a belt obviously or misalignment... which is entirely possible as we had no idea and still have no idea how to align the belt.... cant seem to find any info on how to align anything except that it may be due to bad pulleys in the system.

the belt i got was the JCW belt on waymotorworks.com

What kind of pulley are you using? It should self align.

You do need a smaller belt, the JCW is too large.

When you release the tensioner, you should see at least half a hole in the tensioner stop.

i'm using a 17% pulley from way, it's a 2 piece, not sure if it self-aligns

I do see one hole on the tensioner, but it's right on the edge

any info on how to actually align the belt or any adjustments???

I run a shop and my pulley did the same. We also ended up cutting it off. It sucks. Just get the tool.

Two piece should self align. Just make sure you have the first piece push all the way on as far as it will go and you should be fine. It is likely your belt that is the issue. As helix mentioned you can check the tensioner hole to see if the belt is too slack.

just an update, nothing has gone wrong, nothing has snapped. The belt is wearing fine and the supercharger has not died. and as you can see(sig) it makes great power.
