Fuel Injector Upgrade - Help!

Hi All! I'm new to NAM.com and a new PROUD owner of a '06 MCS. Currently I my little juvinile mini monster has a Milltek cat-back exhaust & K&N Typhoon CAI. I want to up the ante with a 15% SC pulley, 400cc - 550cc fuel injectors, lightened crank pully 0% & a custom tune.

Which pully manufacturer should I install?

What fuel injectors should I use and where do I buy them? They seem impossible to find...

I live in CT/NY area...can anyone suggest a tunner nearby?

HAPPY MOTORING!!!

Most of the pulleys will be that same as long as you get it from a good vendor.

You probably will not need upgraded injectors with only a pulley and a tune. However, if you are determined to get injectors get the JCW 380cc. Good price and proven.

I have not seen where a lightened crank pulley is recommended. On these cars you will not see much of a gain.

For a tune you have a lot of options but I would contact RMW or Way Motor Works. They both do remote tunes.

Have fun.

An issue with some aftermarket injectors are their length. There is only so much room to fit them in under the fuel rail then the SC is above that. Some aftermarket ones require modding to make them fit in there properly.

JCW's work great. Most places here they run from $399.00 to about $425.00 for a set of 4. Not sure if they include the O rings, but if not a complete O ring set can be had for about $32.00 from the MINI parts dept.

Go for our complete pulley kit, it has everything you need for a pulley.

As for the crank pulley, pass on the lightweight one. Better for the engine long term.

And for injectors with those mods the JCW 380cc will be fine.

Our remote tune is available, but in person with a dyno is cheaper and better.

I've heard Alta's pulley's are good. I have a 17% Helix pulley in mine.
If you're going full tilt to the 450 to 550cc range of injectors, install them the same day as a tuning session, otherwise you'll throw codes. You actually just missed a session with Jan from Revolution Mini Works of California, it was held at Swift Motorsports in Norwich, CT.

I had the JCW 380cc injectors in my Mini before, and wanted to go larger, so I ordered a set of 450cc injectors from Jan. Go to his website, and you should be able to place an order with him, if not, contact him via NAM, and he'll help you out. Great guy to deal with! But on the day of my tune, I installed them myself just before the car went on the dyno.

Find out from Swift Motorsports if they can do a tuning session for you without Jan. They definitely have a dyno there. The only other place that I know of that has a dyno is Turner Motorsports up in Amesbury, MA. It's quite a drive from CT/NY, as it's almost to the NH/Maine border. I suppose it all depends on how far you're willing to travel.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

I don't see the need for 400cc or larger injectors for the mods that you have listed. If you plan on doing more to the engine then yes larger injectors will be better, but you have to have your car tuned for them first. The 380 injectors don't need a tune.

Like others have said pass on the light crank pulley!

The JCW 380's are more or less plug and play....they will run rich with a 15%, but pretty darn good with a 17% (till you get your tune anyway)...I had my tune done in CT a few weeks ago...JAN can do remote dyno tunes, but you will need the flash tool for your car...about an extra 350$, but very nice to have...(especially since you live in a state that has emmsiond that use a tail pipe sniffer) I have one...It safegaurds you tune againt over-writes, and let's you modify it in the future.
One tip though, if you are sure you will never do a head or cam, then the 380's are safe, proven, but can be kinda $$, but with injectors, DO NOT SKIMP...Jan and helix do sell proven quality alternate products that will save you a few $$, and leave you a bit of future headroom for future mods...
But do not, under any cirmstances, but e-bay redrilled units from injectors r us, Biggy injector, etc...you will not be happy.
I have bought quite a few things from WayMotorWorks, and I have been very happy with parts, service and advise from them, so a big pluss there, but if you want some fun, folks love Helix in Philly, so you can make getting your mods a mini vacation/daytrip with a tune same day...might be worth the drive!!

You live right near one of the most knowledgeable people in this field, Marren
http://www.injector.com/about_marren...injection.html
Marren knows this tuff and I believe can do tunes on the Mini, but not positive. Make sure you don't pass up talking with Tim.

Seriously, you folks are all Rock Stars! I REALLY appreciate the feedback and based on what I have read I think I have formulated the beginning of a game plan.

Also
I just dropped off my Mini to an old friend who owns Route 53 Auto Body in Bethel CT (203) 748-0597 to have a dent taken out of the hood (a friend backed into my baby with a Volvo...oh of course no damage to the Volvo what-so-ever but, a G's worth to the Mini) and told him about my R53 build plan. He suggested that I talk with the folks @ EFI Logics which is also in Bethel CT! Apparently they have one of the most advanced Dyno's in CT. Route 53 A.B.'s main client in Mercedes of Danbury...they know their Sh*^.

'06 MCS Build
Existing Conditions:
Milltek CBES
K&N CAI

Phase 1:
380cc Injectors (Maybe Marren) if I can afford them
17% Pulley
M7 Shocks
Custom Tune

Phase 2:
GP Intercooler
Cam Shaft
Milltek Header
Custom Tune

Thanks Again,

John
