Exhaust question

Hi everyone, joined this site to ask a few questions in this post so I would very much appreciate help!

Ok, I had a base mini cooper 5 speed manual traded it in for an '06 cooper s auto. I want to get an exhaust but I am not sure what the right one is, I found this online: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A1HIUGHP9LIYGU
has anyone had this exhaust and if so is it worth buying. Also if it is not the right one for my '06 coop s then can you give me a link to one that is? I am sort of lost on this right now so any input would help, Thanks!

There is a thread here where a tally of sorts was taken on what exhausts were being used out there, with some audio and video Utube clips.

Prices have changed in the last two years though when that thread was started. www.Bavauto.com sells the rear section of JCW exhausts for 1st Gen MCS's for $570.00. That is with no resonator, but it's how I run and it sounds perfect, and those who have gone that way have not been disappointed.

They also sell a Scorpion exhaust for around $550.00. I have heard that one as well and it sounds and looks great.

If you end up with an early model exhaust system for your late model 1 Gen MCS, it is my understanding only hangar adjustments/modifications would have to be made for them to hang correctly, so do-able.

Good luck.

It says right on the info for the exaust that you will need to adjust the hangers on 04+ cars...so it is set up for early gen1 cars. Doable, but he was giving you other options.

so basically if I take it to a mechanic he will be able to install it no problem? I was just wondering if it was the right exhaust because I looked under my mini and it looked different but maybe I was looking wrong. and as you probably know I am no car expert haha.

Obx exhaust

Heres the video of the exhaust I was asking about in my earlier post. For 300 dollars it rivals a borla or magnaflow, great cruising sound and it isn't too obnoxious. Still need to break it in but enjoy:

I bought the Scorpion exhaust from BavAuto a few months ago. It came with two sets of hangers, so it will fit on early and late R53s.

Personally, I love the sound of the Scorpion. My buddy who races motorcycles was definitely impressed when he helped put it on, particularly because he's used their sport bike exhausts before.

Is the JCW rear muffler a direct fit with the stock MCS resonator?
And does the JCW work wit the Cabrio?

The stock MCS system has no resonator in line with the center pipe.

Here is a pic of the "one ball mod", which many MCS owners do in lue of an exhuast upgrade. It is the elimination of the MCS resonator, which as you can see actally looks alot like the muffler. Resonator on left is removed.

So when switching out the OEM system to a JCW, you want the rear tips to match up well with the rear bumper facia. So make a cut the main pipe at the rear "Y area" under your MINI, and then hold up the new JCW section to your existing exhaust center pipe that way you will see where to cut the OEM system and clamp in the new JCW System to your car. This cut is important so when you clamp the new system in, and put the JCW tips on, they stick out far enough out the back.....

All new JCW exhasts are "pre-crimped" at the rear Y section to clear the rear brace for your convertible. So if you buy an older JCW exhaust from a coupe, it may not be crimped that way. They stopped making two different JCW Exhausts - one for coupes and one for convertibles in 05' I think.

I'm looking at the supersprint for my base cooper... doesn't sound too loud but really deep.
