Clutch type LSD like the Giken works fine on the street.

The Quaife Torsen type offers up to 30% lock (as does the MINI factory LSD), Giken approaches 100% lock.

Lifting a wheel with the Torsen type makes it an open diff - no lsd. This doesn't happen with the clutch type.

When you consider a LSD, it really depends on what you want out of the unit. For most street applications, the torsen type may be perfectly adequate. However if you want maximum performance, the clutch is more consistent and offers less 'slip' - better traction out of a turn...

ps. Giken does not recommend using any friction modifiers.
