They also told me if I got a muffler, that they would hang it for me for like $40. Now, to find that perfect muffler.

Damn I'm hitting up this place when I get home. Haha one question I have for anyone is do you think mini will care if this is done regarding the warranty?

I would not think so, as long as nothing goes wrong with the rest of your exhaust. I had to check that out when I got an exhaust system put on the mom's mustang. They said it would not affect the warranty.

Here is an update everyone:

Sorry about the movement. I had the girlfriend help with the video. It has really deepened and gotten way raspier. I am definitely not going to add a Magnaflow to it. Like I said before, best $25 I ever spent.

So when I had my S2000 I had the resonator removed and it made the exhaust sound slightly more aggressive but didn't add drone at any rpm. Then I researched and ultimately bought an Invidia Q300 because everyone said it didn't have any drone. Well, that was a lie. As long as the top was down it was ok. Top up was a drone box to my ears. So if I delete the resonator on the MCS but leave everything else stock am I gonna notice any drone? I want the aggressive sound but not willing to deal with the noise in the cabin.

I ran no resonator for about 9 months and never had any drone at all. The sound of the exhaust will become a little more aggressive/louder. Here is a sound clip of my mini without a resonator. Enjoy

+1

I agree. It definitely gets more aggressive, but does not drone. I have had mine off for about a month, and so far so good.

I just had it done last week and I'm in love with it. No drone at all and just enough of a tone change to make it sound mean.

Ok so im a nube when it comes to some of this stuff. I really want to amp up my sound on my Mini and cannot afford a full exhaust. I have a stock R53. 2003 type s and was wondering if i will get good sound out of the stock exhaust by getting the resonator removed. also will i need a tune after i do this mod? also the JCW is only one of the new-er minis correct?

Yes you will get a great growling sound out of the stock exhaust. Remember at highway speeds 75+ you will get drone, some people get it badly, others not so bad it depends probably on the job done by the person in this case. No you wouldn't need a tune but it is your choice. And JCW has been around for a while but the newer MINIs to the collect are the Countryman and Coupe.

Well I just did my resonator delete...and let me say it is AWESOME:-D. I love the pop and burble noise. It was $50 with the aluminum pipe to replace the resonator but I decided to go stainless steel and it was worth it for $80. But at highway speeds above 70+ I did not hear any drone, or as others explained an annoying sound. But who knows, maybe I'm just deaf.

I did the cat and resonator delete yesterday and I love the sound. I haven't noticed much drone, but I haven't gone over 70 either.

I did the resonator delete on my JCW Coupe about 4 months ago and still love it. I did start to get some moderate drone at highway speeds over the last month or so but it's nothing I can't live with and actually reminds me I'm driving a sports car. The exhaust note is incredible and while it's not a mod that will gain you anything performance-wise it's cheap for the smile it puts on your face!
