I was researching tuning for my new car and went to the Dinan site, and wanted to see what their options were for the R53 MINI. I came across this.

With their "boost upgrade system" which increases boost to 15psi, they say SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE WILL OCCUR if you don't buy their Stage 5 Software.

That's funny, because I'm running at 18psi and haven't had any issues after 40k miles...

Not making sense to me...

Mike

The fact that the orgional project car for Dininan was rumored to have a fuel delivery issue....a bad fuel pump or regulator, and they did not know about it. Their car was running a bit lean...and they came to the conclusion that you needed to improve the fuel system to run more power/boost.(that is why they sell it with the pulley as a requirement). So they developed a modified fuel delivery system....this statement about engine damage may directly relate to this....with their orgional research, thir car were just running lean....but it turned out their car was defective.
This story has come up a few times....WhiteRoofRadio, etc.....but in the end, Dinian has a product they developed, so they are still selling it. On a side note...MINI USA had a split with Dinian a while back....seems Dinian was not reimbursing MINI USA/Dinian customer's for warranty claims as they had agreed to when the products were sold at select MINI dealers....and Dinian is no longer activity developing for the MINI....Heck...last time I looked, the intake had been cut in price from $250 to a price to $140, then subsequently disappeared...I'm guessing sold out..possibly for good. I think most MINI products for them are most likely being sold until sold out.

Curious.....who makes their Fuel Pressure Regulator exactly ? Is it just an OEM unit with a swapped out diaphram/screen ?

Lots of folks running well over 15psi, no special tuning and no problems for many miles. Would be wise to install larger injectors, and get a tune just to get the most out of the increased boost.

HA HA HA HA, Totally not true. Some Dinan marketing there. The real problem is your car will make no power and run FAT rich. Cause their software leans out the too much extra fuel they add with their fuel system.
