Drivetrain ***OFFICIAL SIGN-UP THREAD for FLASH TOOL***
That's only if the flash tool was installed and VIN locked to the car. If it's never been installed then there isn't any problem.
So, I am kind of ticked and confused, let me explain. I desperately need to purchase a code reader so I decided I might as well get an Accessport because I can upgrade tune wise and also be able to read codes. I have been trying to find a price from Jan, but am getting no response. I also don't know if he is tuning wide spread with the Accessport yet either. Is Jan waiting to release information on tuning with the Accessport? Because I seem to be hitting a wall on the Accessport info. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

the accessport is $895 as that is Alta's set price
we have them in stock
So, as I understand it, there is no separation between tune and tool and if someone has already payed for your tune and wants to get an Accessport, then they have to buy the whole enchilada.
diverter valve upgrade?
I seem to be experiencing a bit more compressor surge lately (@19psi), coming off boost part throttle/wot mid gear. Are there any DV's we can upgrade to? I heard possibly one off an Audi? I know B5S4 audi guys sometimes swap to the 710N (from a TT I believe?)
I dont think i want to vent to atmosphere, and would rather have a DV with a higher capacity.. ideas?

You're right about atmospheric valves. All they seem to do is make noise, throw codes and cost $$$. Take a look at WMW's Performance BOV. Way calls it a BOV, but it's not. It's a diverter valve made by the same outfit that makes the OEM one, but off a higher performance engine. I just put one on and it does everything Way says it will do. For $64 it's a big bang for the buck. However, install ain't for the faint of heart!

As for install, isn't it just 3 allen bolts? Its right under the tubo intake tube... if I've managed everything else on this tiny car myself it should be okay =)
If we ran a exhaust cutout after our catted dp, say, to a side exit exhaust, would this have a significant impact on our rmw tunes? Would there be a worry with the car being turbo causing the ecu to run lean due to loss of backpressure?
My 2.5" straight pipe after the stock DP and flex pipe (no 2nd cat) to my magnaflow muffler in the rear is getting way too loud for my daily driving. Its resonated now too, but magnaflow resonators are pretty much as straight through as you can get, so it doesn't do much.
My thoughts are to put stock piping back after the flex pipe, back to the magnaflow muffler (essentially bringing it back to stock with a different muffler, thus cutting about 90% of the added noise from stock), and fitting a cutout between where my stock piping would go back in. Then route that to the resonator im using now and piping to one of the side skirts for a side exit near the rear tire.
So it wouldn't be exactly a straight dump, but rather a close to stock setup for daily commuting, and then for the fun, a cutout that runs a resonator (22" straight muffler basically), to a side exit (which resembles my exhaust now minus the muffler in the rear).
I'd still have the catted DP, so I don't see THAT much changing, and in theory it works in my head. What do you guys think?

I'm already 2nd catless now.. the droning comes more from the increased size piping and less restriction, allowing sound waves to reach resonance within the piping and oscillate at that frequency causing the "loud hum" aka drone. I know I won't be able to quiet it down without restricting it by a lot, and without losing power. Thats why I wanted an alternative solution for having both worlds. If I had a daily driver/2nd car I wouldn't have this debacle haha.
.
Haha, its about 60 miles highway, 10 city, so yes, a lot of highway. Plus, I like to cruise at 85 or so, which is right at 3250 rpms in 6th gear, makes for perfect drone range. And in reality, a lot of it is my gf getting annoyed with it more than me.
I love it though.....
I do know though, with the tune and bigger turbo its a lot louder than it is on the stock turbo/tune. Also, with my open DDM intake, it is A LOT louder than it is with the stock intake.
I've had mine installed for about 3 days. Why does 90% of the drone go away when you fold down the rear seatbacks? That's indicates to me it a problem with the car, not the exhaust. If I can't find a solution, it's got to go... It's not a girlfriend problem, it's a WIFE problem. After 26 years of marriage, she really does know the magic words.
Divorce! and I will get more than half of all your stuff. (plus the dogs...) She who must be obeyed, must be obeyed.....

I have had my Invidia installed for a while, wife still loves the "ride". The JCW Recaros didn't hurt either
. But basically stock...for now
. I can tell you, it doesn't hold a candle to a MGA with 13:1 compression, race cam and a glasspack for noise and she has stayed with through that and the last 40 -OMG- years
A keeper I guess...

My Invidia is loud as hell...drones like a **** on the highway. I've had it two years now.

Do you have the included resonator on your invidia? Check out my youtube vid, if you search akakong88 you'll find invidia vs magnaflow (forgot the exact name of the video), and I'm at work and can't access it, but they're just revs next to an invidia vs my magnaflow. Both were tune-less at the time, same intake at the time as well.
The tune and exhaust most DEFINITELY make it louder. I tried going back to the stock intake box and it was much quieter, less "raspy/raw" sounding. Also the tune has made a difference as well. More boost, more fuel vs air, more noise. haha

I've seen you video...I know its hard to capture exhaust sound correctly on film, but I'd have to say mine is much louder than that. You can hear my car coming and going from a really long ways away. Always makes me smile, cuz inside the car its not that loud
I would like to hear from Jan about this as well. Coming from a software engineering background. If MINI changes any of the structure of the ECU, i.e. the firmware, the ECU program that runs on top of it might no longer be compatible. When you go to flash that program back you could run into some undesirable results.
My ECU got upgraded at the dealer and now my tunes wont go back on. I need the instructions on how to reprogram the ECUtool to learn the new ECU so that I can get my tunes back on.
Anyone have it handy?
I know it is in this thread somewhere but it is 69 pages long.

Probably need to contact Jan, cause he'll need your new "stock" files to mod it and tune it.
You should also enquire if there is anything new that he's been able to unlock/tune-- Months ago, there was much discussion on this thread about Jan working hard on unlocking maps and tweaking the tune, and not wanting to send new tunes until it was all worked out- or something to that effect.. Is there any likelihood that Jan is going to announce that he's been able to improve on the stock tune that we've been waiting so long for? Has the 1st gear torque limiter issue been solved. Am I the only one who even cares? Hearing that he has the Alta /Cobb tuning tool and no mention of any further development for the purchasers of he Diablosport remote flashing tool leaves me feeling like a complete orphan. Jan, now is the time to speak up and let us know if there is any reason to expect anything more for those who purchased the Diablosport device and stock tune.
