Drivetrain RMW Tune in Bay Aera
Checkers,
Thanks for updating the list. I'm leaving Eugene around 7am, and barring any slowness over the I-5 passes in Southern Oregon, I SHOULD be arriving around 3pm. This according to Google Maps directions.
Look forward to seeing you there!

Okay guys. Here's the latest and greatest. I've talked to Eric at left Coast and Jan. We're starting at eight clock a.m. on Friday Saturday and Sunday. We got the dyno pretty much all day for all three days. As of now we have a card on Friday nine cars on Saturday and six cars on Sunday. Please don't forget to bring cash it's $350.00 for R 53 and R 50 and R 56 are $600.00 plus $75 with a dyno. We will try to get everybody in as fast as we can. Please come early and be a little patient.
Thanks
Randy
Thanks
Randy
I'll be there at 1:00PM on Friday.

Hello Everybody
We have another problem. Jan was unable to get a flight tonight it was canceled. He's not able to get up here until Friday afternoon around 3:00 PM so we are every really tight on time for Friday we will probably only be able to do three or four cars. If anyone who was scheduled for Friday could change to Saturday that sure would help. Please let me know if your variable to change. I talked to the Left Coast and they said they would probably only be open until 6 PM on Friday so we are going to have to have more on Saturday. I know some you were coming from quite a ways away so with this new development we won't be able keep to the schedule that some of you asked for. I'm not really sure what to do, but Jan said he would work as late as it would take to get everybody tuned. Now I have to see what I can get to shop to do.

Checkers,
Do we know who's going to be able to keep Friday as their tune day?

As far as Friday we have 3 cars coming from far away (Redding and Oregon) so maybe 1 more. As far as Saturday first come first serve. Setting a time won't work with what we have going right now.

Here's what I've been told. The Bureau of automotive repair called West Coast diesel and said that they were informed by somebody about a custom tuning to be performed at their shop. The shop was told that this would be illegal and they would send someone from their office to make sure this doesn't happen.
So it seems because someone doesn't like Jan, they've decided to hurt probably 30 other individuals. So the poor shop that was hosting it now lost out on three days of dyno time, and has a State agency looking at them because they rented out their dyno. That business sure feeds a few innocent mouths but the rat(s) didn't think about that.
What about all the people who took time off work, some would drive hundreds of miles to come to this event, who all just lost money and time?
So other vendors or fanboys thought this would be a neat trick to pull to hurt one person when in reality he is the least affected of the whole affair. I guess instead of actually competing with performance and results it's easier for people to conduct themselves in this way. This site has always had the air of Us vs. Them, but honestly, if I was a part of Them, I'd be embarrassed and ashamed right now.

Sad that a passive-aggressive worm like this is on these forums! So much for NAM, the pool is poisoned! Maybe this is why there are lemon-Mini's out there....they are for the RATS!
Now I'm beginning to wonder about some of the stories I've heard on the forum...prolly mostly made up, just to be A$$es.
How is custom tuning illegal anyway? my car is 'my car'...unless it infringes on some smog law, I see no problem with legality??? obviously the shop caved, but why, actually? Is there really a threat of fine/arrest? I seriously doubt it.
....And if this is the case why aren't we all just going to get dyno'd?

You've got to be kidding me. It's sad to see that "other tuners" or their friends have done this. I just hope this doesn't have bad repercussion's on other businesses in California. Sad state of affairs when it comes down to this.
Since the Bureau of Automotive Repairs is a government agency, the report that was given is available under the Freedom of Information Act. We should be able to get a copy or a copy of the internal report and then we would know who the RAT is! This might need to be done on a local level. Maybe Left Coast Diesel can do the request. I'd then like to publish the name of this heroic citizen that was so kind to alert the BAR to keep all of us Mini Enthusiasts from breaking any laws
