Sometimes the shop rents out the dyno for the whole day at a set price, and everybody divides the cost (should work out to less than the hourly dyno fee). Don't know if there is such an arrangement for this date.
If dealer sets the ecu to stock, then you have to pay Jan again! for another RMW tune.
I believe that Jan saves copies of all his tunes, so his fee should be just for reloading the ECU. Doing the entire tune involves a dyno run, adjust the tune, check the results with another dyno run, and repeat the cycle until satisfied.
What I would really like is to get the tool with 2 tunes one with a 91 octane tune (Saturday) and another with 100 octane tune (Sunday). But pretty sure that would be unaffordable for me at this point.
You'd need to purchase the flash tool that holds up to 3 tunes from Jan. Plus you'd have to pay for dyno time on Sunday. I'm sure the 2nd tune is included in the purchase.
Can Jan tell if a car has already been tuned before he starts? I picked up a 04 MCs from a third party and I belived it's already chiped. But not for sure, the people I got it from didn't have much information on it.
Checkers, I'd be interested, but I'd like to know specifically what will be done to tune a 06 R53 JCW, if any parts are needed, and what difference in drivability I'll find? Should I send an email to Jan? newbs49's prior response was far too terse for me to understand.
Sending an e-mail to Jan would be the best idea, but I'm sure you do not any other items. When you find out form Jan and are still interested let me know A.S.A.P because we are almost full.
Ok guys I called Jan and he said that after you get a tune from him he keeps a copy of you tune and if your dealership resets your ECU he can send you the tool to reload it. The cost will be what ever the frieght is plus insurance in case the tool is lost.
