Enough already....

".....there's some bad mojo running around that place, I'd stay as far away as possible from it. "

That really is an inappropriate and quite puerile comment and can only be meant to stir up the pot of "incrimination". If you feel there is "bad mojo" at Hubie's place, why don't you and others who think similarly just give Hubie a call and set up an appointment to have your cars dyno'd at his facility? Should you do that, be sure to bring the dyno results from wherever you last had your car tested. It might be interesting to see the comparative results, especially in highly modified cars.

Drive safely,

Bill, thanks for the update on the dyno and shop. Sounds like a good combination of businesses that allow the owners options.

As noted: I like to see numbers and real dyno sheets, it is interesting to compare.

I have organized two dyno days this past year in Colorado. Always fun to see what your car pulls, but it is just a 'number'.

Dynosheets will be provided to the respective owners and they can choose whether or not they want to post that up in this forum.

Dyno's are calibrated periodically to ensure accuracy; same way that scales are calibrated with weights... if your dyno is not calibrated every so often, how do u know it's reading accurately? afterall, it's a man-made machinery and it's subject to wear and tear, right? laws of friction? service life of sensors? just my 2 cents

cheers

They weren't given a dyno sheet of their car after the run?

nope. They were only given a paid invoice... with the promise that they will get a softcopy of the dyno graph... with 17 cars to strap, not much time to twittle with graphs.

Can't really see how an invoice would take the place of a dyno sheet (see RESULTS) when that is what I'm paying for and yes I did recieve confirmation of payment from the organizer.

Never, ever heard of paying for a Dyno and not getting a dyno sheet with the results...

This is a Club Dyno Day, not a tuning day... read the post again... Here in Cali, people are more "green", they prefer to wait and get their soft copies instead of killing more trees.

Everybody knows what their car ran on the dyno, all the numbers are posted on the chart for open discussion... it's a cool club and i'm proud to be a part of it.

this is such a Classic - while you're ok with not getting a confirmation of payment for a service performed or for parts that some may have paid hundreds (or even thousands of dollars for), but you'll insist on walking out of the door with a dyno sheet Priorities, my friend, priorities...

But hey, if any of them needs immediate assistance, they know EXACTLY where to find us; after all, 35,000 sq feet of facility is hard to HIDE from the public

I haven't been to many dyno days but the few I have they all had a printer hooked up for print outs. Heck the shops themselves want a print out every now and then to compare them and not have to flip thru the computer each time..

We here on the east coast actually use recycled paper!!.. I've even been known to flip the paper and print on the other side!!

If I had bought parts, yeah I'd want a receipt for them. But the day Jan tuned my car, ( which I paid for a month in advance mind you. I did get a conformation e mail from the one heading it all up. Which really just held my spot ) I wasn't receiving anything that I could EVER return for a refund.. So I didn't need a receipt for his services. I knew he tuned it, he knew he tuned it and he gave me a print out of such..
It's really with all the talk on here about numbers, but yet not many are willing to post a graph confirming them, then to hear no one got a print out, it just sounded weird to me..
I was just agreeing with what minimarks said as we both did out tune the same day.. and yes he too, got a print out on recycled paper most likely!!!

yep, whatever floats your boat, i guess. We don't post up others' graphs without permission. Plus with a softcopy, owners can edit out their personal info on their own... they have total control of what they want to post.

Seriously, very few are willing to post on NAM anymore b/c everything is turning into a pissing contest... you post low numbers from a MD dyno= ooo, u have a bad tune; you post high numbers= ooo, u guys fudged the settings... c'mon, if that's the case, then why bother.

If you guys want posted numbers, feel free to traverse over to the SCMM site for the details: http://www.clubscmm.com/board/

I beg to differ, the graph is on the screen, the software has a print button. It takes about 30 seconds to print the run and hand the printout to the happy owner.

But I understand if your doing 17 in a day, it makes for tight time.

And the fact your providing soft copy to the folks is great. As you noted: they can edit out personal info versus having to use a white-out.

Don

I;m running a RMW tune with RMW cam, Alta CAI, JCW 380cc injectors, 19% pulley, and plugs and wires. I put 216hp on a dynapak dyno (measuring at the wheel hub) The vehicle is very smooth, and I haven't seen much reduction on MPGs. Jan didn't tune the vehicle all the way, that's the way I wanted it. I drive it everyday, so I want some reliability, and smoothness. My injectors have a little more room to push. It's all about the way you want the vehicle to react.

I don't understand why it's not tuned all the way... did it stop at 6800rpm? hmm...

I always want my car tuned all the way to redline... if i don't want to use it, then i won't push it that high - the control is on me, not the ECU... it's a more practical approach IMHO... whatever floats your boat, i guess

Yep and I believe Jan tuned twenty or so cars in less that two days all by his lonesome!! Not three folks tuning, just Jan. If pressing the print button after a tune is twittling then I say twittle away, I want a dyno sheet when it's done period. As far as posting those sheets a very quick search here on NAM will reveal dozens and dozens of happy Jan tuned folks that were more than excited to post their DYNO SHEETS showing the results!

So Sweet Pea with your 15 post why don't you try the search button.

There is much more to a tune than the peak HP and torque, the curves can tell you a lot about how a tune will perform on the street or track. How are we to compare the results with other tunes without a Dyno sheet to make a somewhat educated decision on where and who we might want to have tune our cars in the future? If I can't view some of those results ahead of time as I was able to do before the Jan tune then it would be akin to buying a pig in a poke.....

go bark up another tree... i know enough (probably more than you) about dyno graphs and what they mean...

This was a DYNO DAY, not a TUNING DAY!!! And they are getting a SOFTCOPY today... get over it and drink some coolaide... geesh...

FWIW, I went to a dyno day at Canyon Motorsports, 28 cars, everybody got a printout. I have always gotten a reciept from Jan for tunes, from Church for dyno cost and, from MIINICORSA for parts, labor, and service. Personally I don't care if RMW works out of the house. My VW mechanic has worked on my cars for over 20 years and I would not take my VW anywhere else and his shop is in the backyard. Oh, and I am one of his "cash customers" as he calls it. He does write me a hand written invoice and he has kept all of those copies on every VW I have owned for over 20 years. It is all about results. I really don't care about how a business keeps it's books or if they pay taxes. That is for them to deal with. I really don't know why this keeps coming up.
