R53 2005 Steptronic manual shifter no go =(.

So my R53 is going great except for a small issue...
The paddle shifters work, the normal auto works fine... but when i push it over from drive to "manual" using the "+" and "-" nothing, it doesn't say "m1, m2 etc..." it just stays in Drive and well nothing anyone know what this might be, something popping loose or my whole tranny is toast took it in for some service see what they say looking for some outside info in the meantime!

I did not see anyone else with this issue posted but my searching skills may have failed just pm me the post and ill delete this one in a flash!

it shouldn't be a serious problem unless your tranny is acting up in D mode also.

probably just some glitch or loose in the +/- tunnel and it just doesn't recognize it being it in manual mode.

Most likely it's a contact or sensor that's gone bad and an electrical loop isn't closing when you move the selector into M+/-. Does it shift normally otherwise?

it does shift normally, and paddleshifters allow shifting normal. Shop said its the shifter itself, they did not give any details yet, should get it back tomorrow, latest monday I'll post what they did then!

Been driving a civic and i keep seeing other mini's EVERYWHERE tear*

The bill was 1400ish (warranty but still a big cost) Entire shifter had to be replaced, i did not get much info out of them, but everyone seemed boggled when they inspected it. I suspect they decided to try and throw the whole shifter at it, and would have tried a tranny if that diddnt work, either way mini's home, went for a nice spirited drive, spotted a silver S mini, but he was on the phone, and ignored me! (Alta Loma area goin north on Archibald I will stalk you till youi wave back!)

Anyways! been trapped inside a Jetta as a loaner, and seeing a Mini from rancho to chino hills every 10 seconds

Anyways yep!
