Drivetrain How do you know when the supercharger goes bad?
How do you know when the supercharger goes bad?
is there anyway to know? does the car stop working? Just curious, because sometimes I feel like I'm not getting the performance on my 03 MCS as I should be...not sure if this is the case...
any advice?

There are several ways the SC can go bad....
and all of them are rather catastrophic. What is much more likely is that your bypass valve is starting to go, a rather common issue. and much less expensive to deal with.

None...
Really, loss of peak boost doesn't have anything to do with wear in the SC. This is almost always caused by a failure in the spring on the by-pass valve.
You've got and 03. If you are running the original by pass valve, it's getting pretty old and a failure there wouldn't be that surprising.
But you also didn't really describe your loss of performance in much detail. Do you know that peak boost is down? It's hard to say what's screwed up without understanding more about the symptoms.
