Edge Racing Sport Header

My MCS has a new exhaust manifold and Magnaflow catalytic converter. I just got back from a test drive and it's running great. For under $200 Canadian completely delivered to me(off of ebay ), it was hard to pass even though this economy is squeezing us all silly.

The Edge Racing Sport Header is very simple in design and approximates the Megan Racing Header and it's 4 into 1 run. I thought it was to only have slightly larger runners; wrong the id are 1.55". I hogged out the flange D ports as they were very small(1.375" by just over an inch) and used a stock gasket to port match instead of the one supplied(for tiny ports). The outflow to the test pipe/cat area is 2.25 id.

Notes: My supplied test pipe was to be used as a template for making up bolt in flanges for the 91035 Magnaflow cat that I am using. My test pipe was a good 5/8'' too short. Couple that with the output angle of the collector flange not being vertical lead to a long test fitment before tack welding the flanges on the in situ magnaflow cat. The pre-cat O2 sensor wire needs to be relieved from engine bay harness to gain another 2". And of course the upper heat shield will have to be hacked up to clear the runners(must do that this afternoon ). Anyways, it all worked out and this morning I was able to tack the flanges, then fillet weld, paint, install, and then boogie woogie! See photos.

Here's a couple of the header getting it's flange D ports ground out. Cylinder #1 port is not done yet. See the black sharpie mark on the right.

Yes I did this at my place Ed. How's your header running for you so far?

I forgot to mention I had to grind around some of the runners seam welds to allow the header flange bolts to seat flush.

I also noticed the flange had minor convexness just like my stock manifold. No leaks before or after!

Your passion shows your quality of work .
My MegaMynes headers is doing well and love the sound and response this headers gave to my car. The sensation is close to my -15% pulley mod. Maybe we'll do the Hubie 1 cam or NS1 cam next year.
Cheers!

If you're asking mine (IE cat-back + MegaMynes Headers), I've been trying to get / borrow a digital video cam as my old one is analogue (Sony Hi8 XR) being purchased in '98. Jeremy can attest some few moments after we installed this header at his hobby shop. Besides, sometimes cameras cannot capture the true sound. Oxtox has a MegaMynes headers with Miltek cat-back and it does sound in Youtube very good too.

Ed's exhaust note at idle and departing my place sanely was very pleasing.

My new set up is actually quieter cruising around steady(2600-3250rpm). It's a little bit tinny gently accelerating through the gears and much louder running WOT.

I'll try to do some vids with sound soon.

Deja Vu...

all over again..... The OBX stuff had the same deal with the header bolts. I don't know if one needed to take as much metal off for the ports. But you can't argue the price!

Thanks for sharing!

Yes deja vu Matt. I think most cheapo headers have issues to work around.

Last night I managed to tin snip and shape the runner heat shield. It turned out to be very similar to Ed's MegaMynes trimmings but a little less.

Ed as the camshaft anecdotes, pulls and miles pile up let me know when your MINI wants to try one out!

My MINI threw a P0107 code since the header was installed. I cleared it and it has not been thrown again. I had the same code a couple months ago shortly after installing some JCW fuel injectors. I'll check over MAP sensor and vacuum line.
