Limited exhaust options? HELP!

I have an 02' MCS and searched here quite a bit but couldn't find answers about my specific situation.

I currently have for mods; Alta CIA, and a 15% pulley with the 1-ball exhaust mod. I would love to do a new system entirely, but my budget won't allow for it, hence the "limited" title.

Well today while driving i had the bracket on the exhaust break off and score the inside of my rim and shave some of the rubber sidewall on my tire. I'm not happy, but life goes on. The one remaining can was scraping as it was wobbling from side to side rather easily.

My main question(s) is/are these:

I'm considering just cutting off the other half of my exhaust. Obviously i would be cutting it at the original point where my one pipe split to go to two for the stock set up.

Would doing this cause me problems, e.g. not enough back pressure, excessive heat under the car due to a direct exhaust dump, etc. etc. Basically, would it be dumb to do this?

If I do the above mentioned, for a while and decide to put a muffler on, I'm considering the Magnaflow universal muffler, and having that welded on, in a "custom" system. I would simply put the muffler on one side under the car. I will not do a battery relocate, i hear that provides a drone.

Would this "custom" system give me a dreaded drone? I had that on a previous car, and vowed never to do that again.

I hope this all makes sense, and i really appreciate any feed back asap.

Thanks again!

1) I highly recommend you do NOT just chop of your mainpipe and leave it open under the car. Heat will be a problem (it will be blowing hot exhaust right onto the battery box... not good...) and you HIGHLY risk having carbon monoxide pulled into the car through cracks and vents. I don't want you to die. It will also sound like crap and your car likely won't run as well.

2) Very likely that a single-sided magnaflow welded onto the existing pipe would drone. Most single sided exhausts have some drone. Many folks get a little drone from the one-ball.

3) I have a one-ball and my bracket broke like yours - a common problem. In my case, it didn't damage my tire or wheel. I welded it back and it's fine - no worries. Worst case, buy a replacement bracket and be done.

Thank you for your reply, I will probably just have them weld the bracket back on and go from there.

Much appreciated! Thanks again!
