Here some pis of the CP Rotrex pistons.

these were custom ordered from a client in Thailand
these are made for a 1.8L stroker and are higher compression than stock
How long ago did you install these? this is a little discerning because i just got a set of the Wiseco 77.5mm. Havent finished assembly of the block. Had to wait for new block bolts. Dont know if I should disassemble these and try to return or take my chances.
After looking at other designs, I don't think the wisecos have a chance. Compare these to stock and you'll see the difference in skirt support. The majority of aftermarket pistons have a similar or increased skirt strutting compared to stock. Why wiseco decided to reduce the strutting is beyond me. Actuallly, they said "they are forged and strong enough".
Obviously, I can't recommend them. A couple tuners have contacted me and confirmed that this failure is odd and consistant with the skirt design. At least one other user has reported piston slap and claims other failures. Is it possible that the pistons are of sound design and my car just had some unusual issue... Based on feed back, I doubt it. I wouldn'tbe able to trust them again.
I wouldn't use these unless you are in a position to tear it down at the first sign of piston slap.
Mic the cylinder and the piston at the skirt!! All this can be prevented IF the tolerances are correct!! IF the pistons are too small.. then get a hold of the manufacture.. and advise them...
Loose pistons are the responsibility of the engine builder.. However I do agree with all the above posts. Some times the Mic needs to be used when building an engine to make sure the clearances and tolerances are correct!!
Piston slap is the result of TOO much clearances.. ( either thru assembly.. or skirt failure) cool??
Just me........................

The piston slap I refered to is what will be heard as the skirts crack, reduce thier size (increasing the tolerance) and finally breaking apart.
I contacted a good friend of mine who works for Wiseco here in Mentor. He gave this thread to one of the engineers to read over. He says send the pistons back to them, they will examine the pistons, so a stress test and such and determine what happened. He also said, as long as it was an issue on their end, they will pay for all of the machining to repair the damages.
He also said out of all of the MINI pistons they have made (3,000 or so sets according to him) this is the first set he has heard issues with.
PM me if you, or anyone else who may have had issues with a set of Wiseco pistons, would like the necessary contact info at Wiseco.

Look, i'm not here to start another war. I'm sick of that **** on this site, and its the main reason I don't visit this site anymore.
He didn't clarify if it was 3,000 individual or 3,000 sets. He said they have been running them for 3 seasons now. Thats alot of time to make alot of pistons. I have a few friends in different parts for the company, and they are still up and running 3 shifts, 24/7.
I came here to offer to help everyone, others running these pistons, the OP 002 and any potential future Wiseco customers.
The person that looked over this thread said that either I could take my time to contact the OP or he would have to contact Wiseco directly, they aren't going to take the time to help someone that wont help themselves. They need to see these pistons in order to help determine who is at fault here.

I think you hit the proverbial head of the piston here

Not so red and white cooper,
Thanks for the info. As originally posted, I did contact wiseco myself before starting this thread. They weren't very helpful. Basically the phone operator told me that it was my fault and I most likely caused the problem myself because "wiseco pistons are forged and they have sold thousands of sets". He gave me the number of someone that could "test" my pistons, but that person never returned my call.
I have not taken it any further with wiseco because the tone from them was to get lost. I will make one more attempt to contact them. Mostly to prevent it fom happening to others and to give wiseco a chance clear thier name in this thread.
I do not want this to become a product bashing thread. My goal was to get feedback from other customers. Also, to provide a result for other members that use the search function as there is very little info about pistons available.
I'll update this thread soon with a summary of how the project turns out.
