Actually I didnt get it from Jan...I got it straight from Newman. It is a Newman Cam after all.

Anyways, my question was that would it it ok to install it with the stock injectors and stock tune?

and for your info, the only reason that I plan to have the Mynes tune is cos they provide remote tuning capabilities. I am in Brunei (far east) anyways and there are no expert mini tuners here. Hence my questions to you all.

Don't know of anyone that has it like that, maybe you could ask Newman.

I think you have 15% pulley, than install the cam after installing the headers and injectors.

As did I. I had no problems.

I drove a car with a newly installed Newman cam this weekend. I was impressed with its power down low. It doesnt have what I want from 6k to redline though.

You can install the cam now the way your car is set up. But you wont get full power bennefits from the cam unless you match all the other components to it.

I was thinking of having the guys at Mynes give the ECU a nice tune first.
Because I think it may still be a little bit before I go for the cam. I want to do the injectors at the same time as well and probably the header at that point.
I am a little concerned about the car being to loud (is there such a thing?) if I add the header. Im running the race series Borla with no resinator. It has a great sound to it at 3500 rpm and up, with lots of burble and pops in every gear whenever i let off the gas. even when cruising at 75 or so. It sounds sweet!

If you want to have what you though after the 6K readline , go for the head directly

huh?

I dont have the Newman cam. My cam really starts at 3.8k and pulls until redline, thanks to the Crower cam and tune.

Te header will add loudness and it might be a little too loud for street driving but it depends on your preference. I had the Race/Sport Borla with resonator and liked the sound and loudness. However, when I talked to George at Mini Madness about adding a header he said that most people find the header and Borla Sport too loud. He said that many people switch to something like the Borla Street to go with a header. However, I did not install a header with the Borla Sport so I do not know more personnal experience. I do know that I found the Borla Sport (without header) too loud for highway cruising and conversation on my GP with no rear insulation and I switched to a Milltek cat-back.

Well think of it this way... As long as you cruise around next to Justin, everyone will think your car is quiet and sounds amazing

And the header is gonna add to the power so to me the noise is not an issue unless you have complaints from the wife Than I'm staying far out of it

Easy... no need to be hostile
Was just trying to gain understanding. Now that I know, I agree that would be a good idea if no other tuner is available... And yes the cam will be ok to install with no other supporting mods, you just will not see and power or tq increase. on the contrary, you will probably see a decrease in throttle acceleration until you have a tune. Which then you will need more fuel. so they just go hand in hand.

I always laugh when I see Justin pull up in his mini wearing his signature ear plugs

Luckily for me I don't have "that wife". mine is cool. as long as my shop makes enough for the bills and investment goals I can play. shes very cool like that
but as for me. I like the sound just the way it is so maybe i'll not go the header route, but will get the tune, cam, and injectors. I know the header will probably net me another 10 hp (+or-). But thats ok cause the goal is around 250 and I am around 200 now.
Unless we do the other set up we were talking about. Then that would just be "sick"!

what would happen if we put the RMW race cam in?

it's hard to believe people think this cam falls off at 6k, it ONLY picked up another 60whp over the next 1500rpms...................... this car has been spun to 8k for almost 2yrs now and NOT 1 valvetrain failure either............... How many 300whp cars have done that?

Sorry..it wasnt meant to sound hostile..but its kinda annoying if I ask a very simple question and the answers get me nowhere...I mean, who cares where I got the Newman Cam from right? The post is about the Newman Cam.

anyways...My lil mini is not stock..Ive got everything BAR ported/BV head, larger injectors and custom tune...(producing 240BHP with Meth)

Ive got the Newman sitting at home waiting to be installed....hence my question to you guys...Im contemplating the following:

- Install the cam now. Stock injectors, stock head and stock tune.
- Install the cam once my larger injectors and custom tune is available.
- Install the cam together with a ported/BV head, larger injectors and custom tune.

You guys are funny. It was just MY observation that the newman cam fell off at 6k, and it does with the car I drove on Saturday. I drove this on a car with no tune and a pulley. Not EVERYTHING needs to turn into a pissing contest. Relax.
