Jardine is a California header maker that has been around sicne at least the 60's.

They now offer a VERY inexpensive exhaust for the Cooper S. One of theri dealers has some on ebay, but they dont know w athing about them.

From the photo it looks like a pipe is bent around the battery box and ends in a single chrome tip. The single muffler is large and sits well forward of all that. Different design, but...

does it work?
does it fit?
does it reduce ground clearance?
is the muffler area heat shielded?
how does it sound?

Those of us in the motorcycle crowd know Jardine. Esp the cruzers! They make quality chrome parts and very good pipes. Double walled (keeps the chrome from bluing) pipe with good performance. I also think the do chrome engine parts for the Chevy, ford types.

Now that does not mean that the know squat about cars... but I would be they build a quality car product.

That system looks as though it wouldn't fit the "S" with the battery box in place. Just look at the other systems out there and the acute angle needed near the end. I could be wrong though.

Hang on. On page 10 of their online catalog it says they have a new system for the S. Somebody there does not know their product line.

I emailed Jardine last week thru their ebay email:
"Do you have dyno results? Are they at wheels or estimated flywheel? What were conditions before/after. What is sound like? Is there droning in cabin? I'm in Santa Ana. Can I see & hear it? Steve 547-2727

The ebay seller (Sean) has been very responsive to my emails, but really doesnt know the product as it is brand new, and just beginning to ship from the manufacturer.

He wrote that the illustration may not exactly match the product, and cannot supply a photo of an installed system.

The Jardine part number is 83202.

My wallet nominated me to be a Beta Tester on my wife's car.
I'll do a before & after install dyno run.
I'll keep you posted. The exhaust is her B-Day gift
(please don't tell her!). Sure is easier than the usual opal jewelry~

Adios,
Cris

I hope the picture on Ebay is not the actual exhaust! If it is, someone is in for a problem. No way that thing will fit. Anyway 25 years ago I did have a Jardine header on my 750 Yamaha triple. It was a nice pipe but, I think there is a big difference between that and a exhaust system for a Mini
