MC-S Top-End Torque Specs

What are the torque specs for the S's cylinder head and cam gear?

Also, having seen the recommended procedure for aligning the crank/cam gear (via timing cover removal); is there a more sensible (re: old-fashioned way) OF aligning the TDC mark on the crankshaft pulley?

Thank you!

Just rotate crank pulley bolt untill triangle on cam sprocket is at 12 o'clock in relation to cylinder head not the ground. Then bust off the cam sprocket bolt.

Jeremy,
That's great intel--thanks for posting...on BOTH sites.

I'm in more of a bind w/regard to the cam though: I'd already DISassembled w/o knowing about the "mark the chain" technique. Stupid me...how do you set timing on a car w/o external timing marks, right? Needless to say, I now (seem) to have no way of determining TDC, then setting the cam shaft/gear accordingly.

I did notice a small orange circle on the crank pulley though...is there a way to line them up that way?

If I were in your shoes I'd remove plugs rotate crank pulley(only after you've popped on cam sprocket and timing chain-your timing chain should still be on crank sprocket) until #1 is at TDC bolt up everything up with the intake lobes not touching rocker arm followers. Re-engage tensioner with breaker bar and rotate crank pulley(remember only after timing chain is engaged with crank and cam sprockets) to see how the valves are moving in relation to each piston. Have somebody else rotate the pulley slowly so you can see what's happening with each cyl and valves. That's the best you can do I figure. You'll be within a tooth or so. With the timing chain off 1 tooth you'll know your cam timing is out with the way it's running. Good luck!

Headbolts = 30ft-lb in sequence then 90 degree additional turn in sequence. That is what the BMW TIS CD states.
