Drivetrain Mynes R53 parts testing results (an upgrade "guide" to your MCS?)
Look out Kal, i might be able to catch up to ya with some more goodies... header is next on my wish list... then an exhaust and IC
We should look to switch your R53 over to E85 also... then you'll run away from me again
It's a never ending game, i suppose...

I agree...lets do the switch tomorrow.

Sushil, u r just trying to stir up the pot - u little devil...
it's not even like that... Kal's car is much, much faster than mine; it's not a fair comparison, let alone a competition ... We want to get the most SAFE power out of all the cars we tune no matter if they are customer cars or shop cars ... I am just very anxious to see how much power i can get on the SC with additional mods.

So you got me interested in your remote tune Jason.
Is the data logger something the customers needs to purchase or are you sending it out to remote tune? If it something they need to purchase what is the cost going to be? Yes the customer would have to purchase the datalogging feature with the remote tune software. You can either buy just the remote tuning software only or the remote tune software along with the datalogging software. If you buy just the remote tune software only, you can always upgrade to add datalogging. The remote tuning software will come with resetting adaptations.
So once you have the data logger you go down to your local dyno, do two pulls while logging the data, down load the data into a computer and then send you the data. You then based on that data write a tune and send it back to the customer. The customer then loads the tune into ?? and then flash's the tune into the car. The customer then does another pull to see his results. Correct? Yes
Will the customer be able to coordinate this with you so that he can do this whole process in one visit to the dyno? We probably can't do ever customer in this fashion, but will try to give the best support to help get the car tuned. For best results always would be actually be there to tune the car in person. That why we are working so hard to do base maps with different sizes of injectors to make that process much quicker.
With the data from two dyno pulls are you able to really dial in the tune with a single flash? Or will you need to do multiple writings and subsequent flashes after seeing how the car reacts from each flash? You are correct, alot of factors takes place right? The type of fuel? Meaning what type of 91 or 93 being used from which and what gas station. Also outside temps, engine temps, engine air temps. Also if the dyno pulls are right after each other, or you are letting the car cool down between runs. There are alot of variables.
What are you charging to write the remote tunes? At this time we are still trying to determine the best price and value, and would have a better understanding once we have it all complete. We are aiming for the end of the month of March or sometime in April.
I can only imagine that when you do a tune on "your" dyno it isn't done in a single flash. Yes that is correct
I know you come to SoCal and do tunes for Hubie. What are you charging for a real dyno tune and how long do they take? Yes I do come out to SoCal to see Hubie, but Hubie uses the same software we use. So he can also tune any car with this software in SoCal and when remote tunes are available. He would also be able to write remote tunes for customers.

def waiting to hear when your coming out to NY mike. if/when you get the the details ( price & location ) i can have a few cars ready to go. maybe we can work on a dyno day with a group discount. pleanty of dyno's around my way.
The only change i did was run all the gas out of the tank and put in E85. The only change you really need is bigger injectors & be able to scale the 550cc injectors without touching anything in the main fuel map.
So the mods that i did to achive 234whp/184wtqe are: 15% Pulley with Bosch 550cc Injectors + Shrick Cam + E85 Fuel

Post #5 Updated: Tuned the Mini on E85, and gained +23WHP; +11WTQE.
1st MINI in the USA tuned on E85 Fuel!!!
WHP WTQE (Mod list)
171 149 Bone Stock (untuned) = And "YES", we got lucky with our 06 MCS, we have a strong motor
191 153 Bone Stock w/ Custom-Tuned
201 164 15% Pulley with Bosch 550cc Injectors + "One-Ball"
211 173 15% Pulley with Bosch 550cc Injectors + Shrick Cam
234 184 15% Pulley with Bosch 550cc Injectors + Shrick Cam + E85 Fuel

But if you have regular access to E85, how can you beat more power at a lower cost-per-gallon?

Cool seeing the E85 tune. I was surprised to see the high number, but after finding out that E85 is 105 octane, it makes sense. The flipside though is that wouldn't you be limited to only putting in E85 after the tune? But if you have regular access to E85, how can you beat more power at a lower cost-per-gallon?
And that's why we use the 550cc injectors => versatility
If you want to run E85, then BIGGER injector size is a MUST and not an option... we do certain things for a reason and the cost/benefit factors must be evaluated each time. We would not want customers to spend their hard-earned money unless there's a good reason for it... and we would not recommend products that have not be tested by us
What happens to a customer tuned for E85 and in a situation where it is not available?? Do you have something / some way they can switch maps in that event?
Our remote tune software would allow you to switch to any map you want. Including 91/93 octane to E85, E85 to 91/93, E85 to race gas etc etc. Would be able to store unlimited maps that your hard drive can store.

Thanks Jason,
Your answers kinda confirm what I always felt about remote tunes. While you can get close there is no substitute for a live dyno tune with the tuner present.
Unfortunately for most Mini owners the tuning options for the Mini are extremely limited which makes the remote tune the only option for some.
I understand why you can't give pricing yet on the remote tunes but if a guy pulls into your shop for a tune what is it going cost?
