Drivetrain Mynes R53 parts testing results (an upgrade "guide" to your MCS?)

I'm interested in the progress of this thread. Really good info. even for a noob like me. I'm interested in the remote tune because let's face it, in Boston, there isn't much tuners or much shops with dynoes. Getting a tuner out here is a once every blue moon scenario.
My question is, if we do a remote tune, do we have to get mods according to what your doing on page 1? (15%, Schrick Cam, One-Ball etc.) or can I get the parts that I want, and have a custom tune from there.
Any efficiency differences with my parts vs. yours?
Thanks for all the great info. so far.

Dont think you need to get exactly what the OP has done...
You can put all the mods that you want then go for the remote tune....
and to my understanding there are 2 methods:
- without datalogging (ala MTH) - using basemaps and flash the ECU
- with datalogging - custom maps for your needs

I believe even without datalogging, they ask for the parts you already have, and it's still a custom map.
With datalogging, they ask for the parts and for data to create a even further detailed custom map. Also the datalogging includes 3 remote tunes for future upgrades and retunes, I believe.
I was just wondering if their able to tune other parts as efficient as the parts they listed and tuned.

Without datalogging - I dont think its actually a custom map. I think (correct me if im wrong) Mynes have developed a few base maps (eg. Basemap 1 - 15% pulley, Exhausts, CAI / Basemap 2 - 17% pulley, Headers, Cam, Head / etc). This is like the MTH flash.
with datalogging - you can install all the mods that you want, datalog during a Dyno or street pull (street pull needs the Innovate Wideband), send them the datalog, they custom it and upload to the ECU.

So I guess my question is would (your example) Basemap 1 - 15% pulley, exhausts, CAI
Work as efficiently with Example MINI 1 -
Alta 15%, Alta Exhaust, Alta CAI
As well as with Example MINI 2 -
Helix 15%, Magnaflow Exhaust, DDM CAI.
(I know the different brand pulleys make no difference, but I'm just throwing it in there)
I'm kind of a noob, never seen a dyno in my life! (cept in videos) so I just had some noob questions to ask that's all.

Haha, good to know I'm on the same boat as every one else. Everything I've learned so far, it's all through the forum.
Flash tool with data logging = more money
You'd need to run a dyno to log data = more money
Never the less, I'm still interested.

Couldnt be that much more...could it?
Plus, with a flash tool (datalogger), you can do a street pull (no need of a dyno), as long as you have tool like the Innovate Wideband to monitor and datalog your AFR. Cos the tuner will have to custom the following for a proper tune: AFR, Ign timing, Topspeed limiter ??? Rev limiter, etc...

at least your in a country that have unlimited tuners for our beloved mini...im in Brunei and has got NO MINI TUNERS...so, im at a disadvantage..so, I need all the help I can get....all my Mods have been Internet Ordered (imagine how much I had to pay for shipping, custom tax, etc...)
But dat wont stop me modding my lil beast

FYI to the people just getting in on this thread.

Quick question what is Innovate Wideband? and AFR? I'm assuming it's a program you'd run on your laptop while you perform a street pull to log data and whatever AFR is. Where would you find this program/or does it come with the remote tune?
innovate is hand held fuel ratio gauge/data logger. AFR = air fuel ratio
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lm2.php
The narrow band sensor ( which is what we have now ) was designed to achieve a stoichiometric (14.7:1) mixture under closed loop conditions, as this is the point where optimum catalytic converter efficiency is achieved. There are ways to guess your actual air/fuel ratio (AFR), but there is only one tool which can give you exact values. That tool is the wide band oxygen sensor. The wide-band sensor expands on the principle of the two-state sensor narrow band function by incorporating a second chamber, the pump cell. The Wide Band Sensors are used in the pre catalyst position in the exhaust stream. They look similar to the Oxygen sensors that you have been accustomed to, however there are some differences.

Mike, do the Bosch OE 550s have the same V-shaped spray pattern as the stock MINI ones?
I will try to have 5-sets of these injectors with me at AMVIV, but i can't seem to keep them on the shelve long enough
AMVIV special:
1) Tuning Package Special with Bosch OE 550s: $625 (custom road tune w/ injectors including installation).
2) Bosch OE 550cc injectors with clips: $265 cash-n-carry; $300 installed.
I have a few sets here at the shop and more coming in, but these get sold quick. If you want me to reserve a set, pls PM me and we'll work out a deposit thru Paypal in order to guarantee you a set
I'll cover the Paypal fees
O yeah, we are hard at work on all fronts (datalogging, parts testing and software development)... will try to get most of it done before AMVIV. it's only one week away
thats great news Mike, put me on your list for potential customers for the flashtool (with datalogger) and 550cc injectors.....ive given my email address to Jason already...and do tell once everything is sorted cos im in need of a tune (Jan hasnt replied my email wrt the availability of his remote flash tool).
