I have 20k miles on my 02 mcs. It still has the stock air filter, and no mods except for SSR rims. Suddenly, I have lost power, gone from 300 miles on a tank to around 230 miles on a tank, and the performance is just not there. It still runs to redline, so the cat is probably ok, but it now stumbles and yo-yo's. I has just about to do the alta intake and the borla race exhaust, but I don't want to start changing stuff with this as a baseline. Clues? I am not really keen on visitn the dealer cause they suck (global imports in ATL) Man I miss peadbody mini in boston. One other symptom, on my way down here from NH I noticed after one gas stop that my performance dropped (the pump said premium 91 octane) but that didn't effect my mileage like what has happend in the last two weeks.

Thanks

it wouldn't hurt to take a look at the spark plugs.

Maybe you got some bad gas. We had to have our feul system cleaned out in our 02 Yukon XL after we got some bad gas at Wal Mart (needless to say we dont buy from there anymore). Or maybe it's just the ECU. There is now a fix for the stumble in the newest version of software, but it's not out yet, so just hold on.

Could be your air filter... you can try taking it out and cleaning it or replacing it with a regular paper filter or something like a K&N filter. If it hasn't been changed or cleaned this could be your problem. It's also pretty easy to get to so it's a good place to start.

One option would be to have the great people at RSPEED look at your car. I have used them for oil changes as well as other services. I plan to let them do all of my car maint. except what is covered for free at the dealer. If Rspeed finds out that it is something covered under warrenty then you can take it the dealership. Rspeed is a sponsor of this site.

Their number is 678-290-7504

Also, another option is to drive down to Hank Aaron MINI.

Hope it all works out. It does sound like there is a problem.

Have you tried Hank Aaron on the south side of Atl? I have an 02 with 22,000+, but no problems. Good luck.

Motor on.

Take it to the dealer- it's under warranty. Sounds like a software bug.

Thanks for the tips, I would love to think that it was the air filter, but somehow it seems to be have happened too fast for that too be it. I'll definately check it out though. I'll drop it by Hank Aaron if its warranty stuff, but it just kills me because global is 4 minutes from my house. I was hoping that maybe someone else had run into this but the search just keeps coming up stumble, stumble, stumble. The basic feeling is like the air conditioning is on (yes I double checked that it is not on). C'est la vie. It just sucks because I had finally decided to get into the mods because I had made it this far without any engine problems. arrrggghhh.

On a side note, i can vouch for the craptacular Wal-Mart gas. I work for them and i know that Murphy USA buys REALLY cheap gas.

Sounds like bad gas trashed the oxygen sensor.

Take it to the dealer.

not necessarily. Have the dealer or some other trusted outlet check the sensor to see if it's reading within specs.

BTW, give the server time to post your message before you hit "enter" again.

Same thing happened to me and nobody believes me!!!!

I've been getting 12MPG and my power just disappeared. IT still goes to the redline but after 3500RPM it sorta flatlines the power.

Can someone tell me what speeds are possible in each gear assuming you run each up to the redline? I believe I was able to almost hit 50MPH in first, and now its like 35MPH. (I only have an Alta Inake, everything else standard)

The dealer tech and service manager both drove it and said it seemed fine. I KNOW ITS NOT.

So FRUSTRATED. Please help.
