I heard about a guy (first name Chris) who claimed he could tune the R56 so I gave him a call.

He's been using dimsport to tune porsches, audis, and bmws. Anyway he said he just got back from europe where he learned to program the R56.
He also said he is only one of 3 tuners in the US he knows of that can do it. Him, Jan, and somebody in Florida. Programming is done via OBD port.

I'll be trying it out soon.


It's so hard to believe we can get a true tune here in Hawaii...

Anyway, i'l lbe checking it out more to make sure it's for real.

 

Gosh, the R56 is WAY overdue for a good, real tune. We're on model year three! I can't wait.....

I stopped by his shop today to get an ECU read. His little portable programming machine "GENIUS" did not have the r56 listed in it so he went to the DIMSport website and it listed the R56. He told me he has to download the files and put them on the "GENIUS". His internet connection was pretty slow and I didn't have time to wait around for it to download. I'll going back tomorrow.

The one possible snag he mentioned is he may have to get a newer version of the "GENIUS" to do it. If he does he said he'd could get one in about a week.

 

Where is his shop cause I might just have a stock retune

 

Chris called me a little while ago. Good news, bad news, and good news again.

Good news - my car is tunable
bad news - he need the newer "Genius"
Good news - he ordered it before he called me.

He was going to be getting one anyway as it'll do alot more cars than he can do with the one he has now, and I was the the nudge that pushed him over to do it now.


Stock retune? did you get it changed once already?

I talked to the guy yesterday and the new genius hasn't arrived yet. I will be posting more info probably within minutes of me getting any.

No but seriously, I am not excited about it. One thing I learned in life is never expect or get excited over anything until it happens. I want RESULTS NOT PREDICTIONS!

Couldn't get hold of him during the weekend but spoke to him this morning. He said he has shipping confirmation but it hasn't arrived yet.
