Question about injector

Hi,
i would like to know the original fuel pressure of the Cooper S. (bar???) The original Siemens or Bosch number of the injector. Are these low impedance (2-5 ohm) or high impedance (12-15ohm)??
Has anyone changed/built in 400cm3 Audi TT-S3 injector in the Mini or if i cant buy JCW what shall i use instead?

Thank you

Norbert

Can I ask why you cannot buy JCW injector?

The vast majority of OEM injectors are "high impedance".

The main concern for most non-MINI injectors are the overall height of the piece; the intercooler is very close and a taller-than-stock injector will result in an interference-fit with the intercooler [aka doesn't jive]. "Standard" height injectors are taller than the MINI's injectors [both stock and JCW]. Call up RMW and get some 440cc/min if you're pushing big power on the stock ECU. Any bigger and the stock ECU's LTFT can't adapt fully and you'll throw CEL's [not to mention not be able to idle!]

What are you doing to think you need to get all crazy with the fueling system? It's unlikely whatever you're doing already hasn't been done and figured out.

Cheers,
Ryan

Ryan is correct, MINI uses the "high impedance" similar to those in Hondas... the connector type is EV1.

I have used the RC 750cc injectors (SH4-750) on my 06 MCS running E85 fuel and it ran fine with no check engine lights. Only hickup is between 1000 and 2000RPM b/c the injectors are hard to modulate at that range, but at over 2000RPM, the car runs and drives normal.

I'm getting some 550cc Bosch injectors with adapter connectors this week, will try that out and see if it's too long for the stock IC.

Of course, whoever tunes your car will need to scale the injectors accordingly to get your car running smoothly.

cheers.

the 550cc Bosch injectors that i mentioned are the same ones we used for Kalvin's car:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...91-octane.html

these injectors are extremely smooth and nice to calibrate... they do exactly what you tell them to do. It works great on Kal's car b/c we don't have to worry about the injectors being too long and hitting the Intercooler b/c he's running a front mount with the turbo-only setup.

Once i try them on my car, i will post some feedback on how they work on the R53 supercharged units.

cheers...

Are the stubby Bosch 380cc injectors fine to use for mild mods-with an eventual rolling tune-or should one stick to the OEM Siemens/JCW 380cc injectors? Looks like the Bosch go for $55-60 per injector.

Hey D-Man those caught my eye recently too. I've asked if they're dual cone sprays or just single stream. Injector OAL could be an issue and I've asked about that as well.

For the extra dough it's probably better to go with the Siemens/JCW though. Less fussing with OEM parts and such.

There's quite a disparity in pricing for the Siemens/JCW from our NAM vendors($300-$600). I should have bought some last summer when the Canadian dollar was on par or better than the greenback!

Questions:
Anybody tried these injectors? Would they flow better than the stock 340cc injectors in upper rpm band with that staight stream or not? I'm just worried about atomization/puddling. Can we get different nozzles. I think Helix Minisports has 380cc Bosch's with OEM dual cone spray pattern. Maybe they can get different nozzles for these injectors.

Oh that would be killing me Oxtox. Why not throw them in and have RMW/Jan remotely tune your MCS? I think he's almost got the remote flash tools ready for the market.

I love that 1st line Oxtox. I really didn't throw you a bone did I.

Ok what about putting the 380's in and getting a JCW flash to hold you over until your rolling road tune.
