Dinan Exhaust

Do many people on here have and like the Dinan exhaust? I wonder how it compares to others available.

How about a Miltek for $950 (which means I won't get it) or a used good condition Dinan for $200 - 300?

Well, it looks like it sold... but to a non local so hopefully the deal falls through because of shipping and I can still get it for 300 or so.

i have the dinan stage one package, and i like the exhaust very much. I did choose dinan because of the warranty through my dealer, but i would do it again.

I have the Dinan Stage 1 package as well with the full exhaust. It is a bit throaty, but has a nice smooth tone to it. It never has been raspy, but does have the occasional gurgle. Overall it's a well made and good sounding system. I have no other experience with other brands, so I can't compare it to others. I can just say I am happy with the Dinan.

I have a Dinnan Stage 1 package as well (at the time the price was right). The sound of the exhaust is nice, mellow, throaty and as fetos said, nice tone and occasional gurgle and no drone. I do like it overall, but it does hang a little low (noticeable from a few feet back). I'm about to clean it nicely and paint the muffler black so it is less conspicuous. Also, the left side tip always gets exhaust dirt in it while the right side tip remains clean. The look does bother me a little (that's just me) but the sound is nice! If I were to do buy a exhaust again I would look around.

check out scorpion exhaust through Bavarianautosport.com. I recently got one and it does sound good. kind of a mellow tone to it. But it really brings out the burble. decent price too, paid $570 shipped. my camera is on the fritz or else I'd post a sound clip. Will have to get to work on that. Couldn't find any sound clips for this exhaust on a mini either.

ATTENTION PROSPECTIVE DINAN EXHAUST BUYERS!

I just wanted to post a reply after a chat with my MINI dealership about this. The Parts Rep at Mini of St. Louis was desperate to unload this item, offering it to me (likely due to substantial money spent there on my part) at like 5% below cost. He pointed out that MINI's failed relationship with DINAN was due to DINAN's unwillingness to back their products and honor their warranty. I think we all know that by now. But, he added that the specific part continually failing was the exhaust. This dealership had replaced 3 of the 7 DINAN Exhausts it had sold due to welds rusting out in under 6 months. They were left holding the bill on all of them.

They look good, and sound good. But I thought you all should know this. It obviously isn't a universal problem, but given its cost, and the fact that it is really just a muffler, this is a good piece of info to have if you're looking at buying it.

I have the Dinan exhaust and am on my second one due to the lettering rusting. This exhaust sounds exactly as I want an exhaust to sound, but as stated above, the quality is **** poor. I'll keep it on until it disintegrates, but I've had no issues with any welds or anything else other than the lettering on the tips.

Mine was hanging too low for my likes as well, so I had it moved up (they can do this if it's installed with the correct pieces). It looks much better now, but the problem is that on track days with high EGTs, I've melted part of my aero rear bumper since the left tip is really the only one that works at WOT . All in the name of good fun, right? I'll snap a pic and post it up later.

Does anyone know of a good alternative to the Dinan? I love the way it sounds but after reading about the quality issues I think I'll pass.

check out Scorpion exhaust. If you want something that isn't too loud.
First one is my car.

no drone on the highway at all. This does not bolt on to a vert though. I had to have spacers made up to clear the braces on the back end. other than that it went on nicely and sounds really great. Build quality is real good on this system as well.
