This afternoon, I popped the bonnet to take a look to make sure everything was in order, when I noticed that my #3 Kingsbourne sparkplug wire had melted to my M7 stress bar??? There is no way that the stress bar gets that hot. I had just driven home from work which is about 26 miles, so the car was hot. When I felt the stress bar, it was definitely not hot enough to do that. I am concerned that the insulation on this wire is somehow faulty and the heat was due to the spark travelling through the wire. I will be contacting Outmotoring.com tomorrow to see if they will send me out a new set. I just put these on about 2-3 weeks ago. Does this sound extremely strange to anyone else???

 

More than likely a short on the bar like you said. Keep in mind that some of the highest whp MINIs are running stock wires and coil so unless you have the wires for the color, they are really not a performance multiplier on these cars

 

I had Kingsbourne's as well until I started getting some misfires. contact with the GRS intercooler had left some similar melting... went back to stock and changed the routing slightly

WRONG they make at least 100 rear wheel HP at least or maybe more like 200.

Just kidding, the red ones are trick lookin' though.

You cant say that the plugs dont do ANYTHING over OEM. The aftermarket ones do usually come in 5mm and 8.5mm versions that put out 40-50 ohms per foot. Far less resistance than what OEM puts out. Less restriction the cleaner the spark frequency. Altho your not gonna get a HP or TQ gain out of it really...the theory is sound.
