Is this one of the mounts that are replaced when installed poly-urethane bushings?

Hi guys,

As stated, is that(circled in red) mount one of the bushings that are included in the usual engine mount bushings if you had to replace them with polyurethane versions? If not there is nothing aftermarket I can replace it with?

If your car is an 02-04 Then yes that is the bushing that is replaced. The bigger bushing on the other end has inserts that will fit in it.

Thanks for the reply batrugger. Does any 02-04 Coopers with this mod have a photo for me of what it looks like with the polyurethane bushing?

The bushing available for the early cars are simply inserts that are installed to fill the gaps of the stock large rubber bushing, most kits will include a solid bushing to replace the smaller end also.

It doesn't look any different except that it is purple (Powerflex). You will get more of a reduction by installing the inserts in the bigger bushing on the other end of the mount or even more if you both. If you do this mount, I would also recommend doing the transmission mount too since it actually vibrated less after I did the transmission mount combined with the upper motor mount.

Agreed. I just put my upper and lower on today. No vibes yet that I can feel. Waiting on the garage to open up so I can do the tranny mount in the heat.

The photo is bad because of my ancient camera, but you can see my poly mount. Note, I added a large, thin washer to help spread the load over more of the bushing. Without the washer, the engine was pulling down on the mount and it was coming out of the void.

Ooo I also need to add the washer. Mine came with 2 but I could not get the mount over it.

The powerflex kit includes the washers. You just need to bend the ends of the mount out a little and it will slide right over it.

My bushings are IE, and they didn't come with any washers. Once I found ones the right size, it took some persuading and spray lube to get the mount on.
