Exhaust Depot 3" TBE De-cat fitted + video

Hey all,

Just like to say that I have just fitted my exhaust from Exhaust Depot and am absolutely delighted with it!!
It sounds perfect, exactly what I was after.
It is very loud under WOT and extremely raspy and more like the typical R53 MCS exhaust, whereas with normal driving it can be almost as quiet as stock (within 10-20% louder if that..)
No engine lights (thanks Hector )

I must say that from 3250rpm upwards the car just screams to the redline - whereas it used to be running out of power from around 4500 upwards, the car now holds a steady 17-18 psi of boost from about 1800rpm right through to 6500ish, and I am now getting wheel spin in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear, whereas before it was only in 1st and 2nd

This exhaust not only sounds superb IMO, but the torque improvement it offers is equally superb. I havent RR'd yet but will be doing one night this week, previous figures were 182bhp (not whp) stock, 217bhp after the remap... and now I have the 3" de-cat TBE and also the DDM Works Race Intake System CAi fitted I am hoping for 235+bhp... fingers crossed

Hector from exhaust depot was absolutely superb throughout the transaction and kept me updated each step of the way - I cant reccommend this guy highly enough.

Here are a few pics of the system too!

Here's a little video I took earlier today
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sO8Wjhw6O0

Thanks mate

Enjoy the vid

Haa!!! IM happy to know it made it to you in one piece! Shipping via USPS is not always the best means but its the cheapest!

His setup has no cat in it so it will be aggressive sounding. I had to make his setup custom by making the pieces smaller that way USPS would take the box and not charge oversize fees.

IM happy that your a happy camper *in a british accent*!

"Yeah baby yeah!!"

Yeah, intercooler piping makes a nice difference in most turbo cars. The more rubber in the oem plumbing the more boost you get out of the car just by swapping them out.

Nick buddy!!!!!!!! Dude your video sounds bad ****! Cant wait to hear it when i get home on real speakers!

I heard 0 raspyness in that exhaust. Raspyness is what you hear on a civic with a fart can muffler. That sounded bad ***! Honestly yours sounds better than the one i did locally with no cat. Your setup has different tips on it which might be the key. Hmm?

Anyways thanks for the support buddy! Oh yeah and that country looks awsome! WHen i head on that way guess who ill pay a visit.

Ha! I know how that goes! We have a nice long tunnel her ein fortlauderdale that we cruise down when we get a new system on our rides.

Sounds awesome, any drone or excessive noise while cruising at highway speeds?

No! Thats the thing I am most impressed about mate. At 70/80mph there is no drone (unless you put your foot down to accelerate aggressively) just a nice 'purr' from the exhaust, but it couldnt be described as a drone. It is perhaps 10-20% (max) louder than stock on the motorway (or highway as you guys call it) when just cruising.

As for the CEL - speak to Hector. I didnt think it would work if I am 100% honest, but wanted to test it. But I can say for 100% sure that it does work and I havent had a CEL and the car runs great

Dyno couldnt go ahead unfortunately (thanks H&R 35mm lowering springs lol) because my car was too low to get onto the rollers! But Im not one for giving up easily, Im now booked into another place this coming Friday for a series of power runs - this place looks seriously cool. They have 2 120mph air conditioned fans which they attach to your car. 1 clips onto the bumper and feeds 120mph wind to the intercooler, the other one sits on top of the CAI.

Should get some pretty accurate results I am hoping

Sounds great .. though, I'm curious to in-car noise (it does seem loud).

Adding a second to thumper's request; would love to hear some in-car audio... Beggars can't be choosers, but if I had my request:
-Idle to 30
-35 cruise
-30 to 65/80
-65/80 cruise

Those are in MPH, but KPH works too... basically looks for town and highway cruise.

That system is the MOST aggresive one i make. No cats, no resonators just a muffler. My website is like the new Progressive comercial, you pick and chose what you want. EVerything is made to order .

Hello Exhaust Depot, I been trying to get a hold of you by calling the number on the bottom of your website but I guess its the wrong one. I am from Aventura and interested in your downpipe your offer for the r56. I currently have a 3" custom exhaust thats welded on the flex pipe on the rear side.

I like the design of the tips, what size are those? Any installed pics yet? I'm curious how well it fills up that area in the bumper?

Couple more questions:

Can you do the rear section of the exhaust in black?

What type of stainless do you use? I live in central Indiana so we sometimes see a decent bit of snow. I'm not sure how long aluminized would survive, as I will have to drive my Mini daily in the winter.

75% of all systems are aluminized. Out of the 25% thta are stainless, 15% use aluminized mufflers which is what usually rusts out first. I use only stainless mufflers.

I use T304 US grade stainless, no china crap.

You want me to make the muffler black? Thats pretty simple to do. The cheap way is to by 1500 degree ceramic black paint from pepboys etc.

The more expensive way is for me to take the muffler and get it ceramic coated and place it in a 500 degree oven. However this is done mainly on manifolds and downpipes, never really on a muffler. Once you ceramic coat an item, you have to take it up to a high temp for it to fully cure which is no problem on a manifold. I dont think the muffler will get hot enough.
